Maybe I should have left it as a Logic sample but I'm trying to access a low gong in VSL. Ordinarily these sounds are accessed by pitches but I can't seem to hear the sounds when I drag them up and down in the Logic piano roll and can't find a low gong so far. I'm using 21 Cymbals and Gongs.

there is a large TamTam from G6 - A#6 (roland nos., which VSL uses) aka G5-A#5 (yamaha/steinberg).
& there are tuned gongs starting from C2 up to A#4 (VSL nos.).

I've chosen the G6 Tam Tam. The tuned gongs sound electronic, at least in my preexistent setup.

well it may be subjective but I think they do not per se sound electronic. (Those are kind of peculiar. It isn't natural to have a row of gongs in 12 tones ET, certainly, so they have been altered.)

Maybe I didn't have it set up right but I can do it now. I've started a dummy file with the different notes that trigger different sounds.
I do wish that we would all accept one system as a standard for identifying specific notes. I always consider middle C, for example as C4. I guess that's the Roland system and I think VSL is identical with it.
