  •  As I bought MIR Pro, I was quite happy that for that technolgy, €800 was the price it needed to be, and as I mentioned previously I think it is worth it.

But if it needs to be €800 that is fine,  so how come MIR Pro 24 halves it at €400?  with such a small difference between them, my point is, that I don't think MIR Pro 24 has enough restriction to justify the pricing difference.

I wouldn't classify MIR Pro 24 as being a "smaller version", it's virtually the same thing.

Maybe some future updates may widen their spec further? ................

How do you get 97 sections on one stage - there wouldn't normally be that amount of players in a complete symphony orchestra.  70 string players is still only 5 MIR entries

How are you working with MIR?

My 1st violin section takes up 7 stage positions:

    App Vln 1 x 2

    Orch Vln 1 x 2

    Chamb Vln 1 x 2

    Solo Vln

If I wanted mutes as well, that would be 14 stage positions per section. That's already 70 for the Strings.

    Same for me

If my memory is good (I am not in front of my music computer) winds are 30, brass are 32,....

I had 8 x VE before moving to VE PRO 5 and MIR PRO

  • How about offering MIR Pro12 for 200Euros, or better yet, MIR Pro1 for 20Euros?  I'm sure that would get the other convolution reverb suppliers scrambling.

  • I have the same Setup as DG stated, with additional ones for both LASS and Symphobia 1&2 to layer with.  My templates completely crush past the 24 icon limitation.

I see what some of you are trying to say about the price, but I still feel I got a great deal because I purchased the original MIR and got my upgrades for free.  On top of this, compared to purchasing a Bricasti and other hardware units, you still save a lot of money.  Not to forget how easy MIR PRO is to work with for instant decent/great results.  Some people who only play solo piano and maybe solo violin might have some heartburn over this but for me, I felt I got a great deal paying full price for MIR.

I am a MIR Pro user, and it is amazing,  all that R&D, and coding made it cost €800,  and seemed to be worth every penny (cent).

So with MIR Pro 24 only €400, and  24 Instruments/sections is not much of a limitation at all,  it is really the same thing for half price, it seems we all paid a little too much for MIR Pro.

While VSL usually doesn't comment their pricing scheme it might be worth mentioning that MIR Pro 24 is mainly meant as a friendly offer for those professional MIR users who need a second or third license for slave computers ... it's hard to please everybody, I know, but it's a bit surprising to read a complaint that a new product is too _cheap_ ...

    [:S]

From another point-of-view, MIR Pro 24 can also be seen as the successor of legacy Vienna MIR SE - as an entry into the world of multi impulse response-based mixing. Nevertheless I think that most of the experienced users will agree that it won't take away from full-blown MIR Pro with unlimited stage positions. 😊

    Kind regards,

  • okay, at less than half the cost then.   :-)

It depends how you calculate it [;)]

MIR PRO =  100 instruments = 800 Euro = 8 euro per instrument (If I use IAC, less if I use Event input on the best Mac availlable))

    MIR PRO 24 = 24 instruments = 400 euro = 16.67 euro per instrument

Today you cannot use the full power(1) of a 12 core Macpro ( only 60 %)

At 60 % of power used you get hanging notes

If you cannot fix the hanging note problem ;  MIR PRO sould have the same licencing rules than VE PRO 5, 3 serials per user

    Best regards

    Cyril

    (1) if we could have the number of voice used we could make better calculation

  • Cyril, what is the hanging note problem? I've never noticed this on my system. Can you be more specific as to what causes it?

    DG

  • Hi DG,

If I may jump in here: Hanging notes do occur in combination with the Multiport Environment we have established specifically for Logic. Unfortunately Logic sometimes randomly drops notes internally (the heavier the traffic, the more likely this occurs).

This is something we are working on together with the Logic developers (it cannot be solved by VSL alone, as pointed out in many posts and also in the changelogs and manuals).

OK, so there is no problem with VE Pro then. So Cyril is asking for a discount just because he chose to use a particular sequencer? [:O]

  • Hi,

To be fair, we have found out about this bug too late.

However, we´re determined to get this right for all Logic users out there, and the Logic developers are also contributing (Logic 9.1.7 is already a step in the right direction).

But I don´t want to highjack this thread.

  • Hi DG

I use the same piece since years to do my tests The hanging note problems is happening with Event input and Multiport but NOT with IAC.

It's pitty that I dont have the tools to analyse more the problem, but it is comming since VE PRO / MIR PRO

The question is why THERE IS NO HANGGING NOTE USING IAC and 5.1 / 7.1 ?

Why there no Hanging notes with MIR STEREO ?

Why there is Hanging notes in 5.1 and 7.1

May be the programmers of VSL should have a look at this to put a trap in the software to see what is really happening !

I love MIR PRO but this hagging note problem is bugging me !

    Best

    Cyril

It seems to me that the answer is obvious. Don't use Multiport.

You are the only one to complain !

VSL have ask to have all the configuration in the signature, so if VSL ask me to shorten it I will do so [;)]

Put a comma after each existing line and condense the lines.  You don't need to take any info out,  just allow it to take up less lines.

It was a polite reasonable request from another user,  perhaps you could make a small adjustment.
