    the sax performance sounds great. this is a downloads instrument?? seems, 'advanced' for a standard inst.

    The high end and all that 'verb, with the strings was a bit tinny, but I bet this was a quickie mix.

    If you're still out there...

    Any chance of posting the MIDI and patches you used to create this?  I just got Tenor Sax and I'm a VSL noob and it would be great to see some examples.

    Hi Guy, I, too, am new to VSL (just bought the full Sax library a few weeks ago), and I would LOVE to have the MIDI file for that piece! Btw, all your sax demos (including the demo video for Baritone Sax) are not available as MIDIs, but that would help beginners like me a lot. So any MIDI files you could let me (and others) have would be appreciated very, very much. Thanks, Matthias

    Having played with Tenor Sax for a while now, I want to pass on what Guy initially wrote to -me-... there really isn't much to it... (no disrespect to Guy who is a -god- at mockups). But the thing I realised is that, if you just practice with Universal Mode for a while... really trying to play idiomatically... the thing pretty much takes care of itself. It takes about 5 minutes to get the hang of the mod wheel and then yer off.

    The only continuing disappointment I have is that they only sampled the 'concert' range and none of the extended (jazz) techniques. It's so good, if they had done harmonics, subtones, etc. this thing would be -great- for jazz. As it is... my only 'advice' is this: write material that doesn't call attention to those lacks. ie. so many idioms cry out for notes VSL doesn't do. Just stay within it's wheelhouse and don't try to get it to do what it doesn't do... if that makes sense. I think the reason Guy's demo is so good is because it does just that---like any good magician he picked a genre and notes that highlight the things VSL does -great-. It's so good, it made me expect it could do stuff it really -can't- do. ;)

    Hi JC, thanks for the insight, that's a helpful observation! I guess I have to work it out myself then, although I think having the MIDIs would speed things up a bit ;-). Nevertheless big thanks for your helpful reply, I'm gonna try to put it into practice! Cheers, Matthias
