  • Logic's score + VEP 5 + MIR ----> not allign

    Hello

Is there is a way to allign the sound and the score ?

Thanks in advance for your help

  • Not sure what you mean Cyril.

    Is there a delay?

  • when playing a song you will see the note on the score and after a while you can hear the note playing

  •  I would have thought that this would be caused by a combination of soundcard buffer, ADC and Logic's playback buffer.

  • I was under the impression that Logic is always out-of-sync visually, as its graphics engine doesn't take latency compensation into account ...?

  • Hi Dietz

I never noticed this, but I will check this tomorow, just playing EXS

It would be better to check using a 3rd part sample player, because EXS could skew the reults by using the pre-rendering feature.

Is this some kind of urban legend Dietz?

I have just completed working on a project in Logic, using 7 VI Pro instruments within VE Pro plus 4 EXS24 sampler instruments.

When the project plays, the score is 100% visually in sync with the audio. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen the score and audio "out of alignment" as Cyril experienced.

  • I do have to make mixes using Logic every now and then. When I implement my usual setup - which is: recording the mix from the console back into Logic, while listening to the final mix with some master bus processing plugins added to it - there is a big delay between visuals and audio. This is not the case in Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo and other DAWs.

  • If you use VI and EXS and it is allign, and if you use VE SERVER and MIR it is not allign the culprit id VE and MIR.

It looks quite normal as VE and MIR have to do a lot of work, at that is explaining why EXS and VE using MIR are not in sync (see the problem I have put to suppport)

If you put buffer in VE to 2 or 3 and you press on stop, you can hear notes playing for a while !!

VSL should contact the Logic team to find out if there is the possility to re-allign the score

With Synful you where obliged to add a delay  to non synfull tracks !!! http://www.synful.com/

hope that VSL is going to be able to fix all this otherwise there are 2 solutions :

    1) MIR license available on 2 or 3 computers

    2) to split the task VSL on one computer MIR on the other

  • Do you have latency compensation enabled in both VE Pro and Logic?

This is a very good question !

I will check this tomorow when I return to my studio

  • Hello Karel

I have check VE compensation is check

I Logic I have compensation = ALL ; low latency is not checked

It is weeks I have ask for guidances :

You coud do a document per DAW per kind of configuration :

    • Mac pro 12 core raid of ssd
    • Macpro 8 core lib on a ssd
    • .....

    Any other idea ?
