TELDEX AND VENUES

Shouldn"t the TELDEX venue be present in the Venue menu if it is in the right folder? I do not see the TELDEX venue in the MIR pro Venue window. What suffix do I search for to find the Folder for the venues? I am able to open the TELDEX .viframe64 on the Slave Vision DAW and the midi communication works from the Logic9  sequncer on the mac side, but I don't hear any audio even though the sequencer indicates that the TELDEX is connected and preserved. On the slave VEPRO64 side the instance indicates it is not preserved. Also when the TELDEX vi frame loads it gives an error message that the room tone will not load. Any suggestions?

Dear Stephen,

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but I think we need a bit more details. I assume you bought, downloaded and installed the MIR Pro "Studios & Soundstages" RoomPack. You activated the according license; the eLicenser is attached to the machine you're running MIR Pro on, isn't it??

Does MIR Pro work with the Vienna Konzerthaus Venues (a.k.a. Standard RoomPack)?

Are you able to load Teldex Studio in stand-alone mide? If not: Did you change any folder paths during the installation?

I neglected to load the updated room packs. I can see all of the Venues now. The first two time I tried to run Aufnahmesaal I got a "Run time error".  After restarting the VisionDAW the error message disappeared and I was able to load Instruments and got the audio just fine. 

I cannot get Herb TELDEX instances to open successfully. Using the same setup that runs successfully above I try to open one of the instances. I get the message "cannot open room tone" and then a black and white image of the instruments on the TELDEX stage appear. When an instrument is activated and played either from the keyboard or the VIpro keyboard the meters light but there is no audio. I have reloaded the instances twice and get the same result. By the way, I think these templates are a great idea and would like to use them.

Does this mean that Teldex Studio itself is now working for you - apart from the fact that you can't load "Herb's Presets"?

Is the RoomTone working when you start a new project from the scratch?

BTW - which version of VE Pro / MIR Pro are you using? The version-number is displayed in the lower right corner of the splash-screen when starting, or in the "About"-dialog.

The version number for VEPRO  is 5.09753. I was able to open the small orchestra template  from scratch just fine. When you enable a cell it loads and plays and audio is heard. However, when I try to load the large template with either mic 2 or 3 from scratch I get the message the room tone will not load, then a black and white graphic  loads showing the seating but it is not in the hall graphic that appears when I open the small orchestra venue. If I open a instrument in VIPRO and enable a cell I can play the cell and the MIDI signals appear in the audio meters of the MIXer and VIPRO , but no audio is heard. In VEPRO 5 the server indicates that the instance is connected, and on the sequencer side the server instance is connected, but no room tone  appears in the sequencer"s audio meters even though the room tone is on and increased to 6.0 db. The preserve function on the sequencer side does not preseve the instance on the server side .

Stephen - this sounds much like there is some data corrupted. When I understood you correctly, you're able to open both Teldex-Venues manually, but the Large Orchestra Preset causes Trouble?

Did you try to download "Herb's Presets" a second time already?

BTW - Have you tried loading the version for Standard VI? Does this work?

I abandoned the presets as I cannot get them to work. Instead I opened the TELDEX Venue in the Venue menu and used the diagram for a large orchestra to create a reasonably accurate model of the preset stage setting. This approach works beautifully and the TELDEX venue is incredably transparent when paired with the MIR instruments. To my ear the Venue reproduces the sounds without any hint of an artificial DSP.

This last upgrade is a quantum leap forward in creating an orchestral fiction that is both beleivable and in some ways superior to many recordings of orchestral instruments.

While it's a pity that you couldn't open the Presets (... I would _really_ like to know why this happens ...), rest assured that your own creations will be as valid as Herb's. And they will fit your own needs better than any pre-fabricated solution.

... just one thing: What do you mean by "MIR instruments"? I assume you're talking about the "Instrument Profiles" for Vienna Instruments, don't you?

Yes, I mean an instance of vienna instuments pro placed on the MIR stage. 

By the way, has anyone ever opened Herbs presets and gotten a Black and White image with no stage with an error message of "cannot open room tone"?

I have found a work around but am just curious how I was able to get that result.

Personally I haven't seen this error up to now, but it might be a sign that there's something shaky with the video monitoring of your system. .... this wouldn't explain the missing RoomTone, though.

What was your workaround, Stephen?
