  • Getting Warnings from eLicenser, help.

Hello, I have Vienna Instruments Pro and its respective library (bought the blue thin box years ago Special Edition) and now I'm getting the following warnings:

Any idea why? They are not demo licenses I bought them permanently. I have the email history, purchase proof and box and whatever you may need.

    Thank you.

  • You probably only bought the Special Edition Standard library. Due to technical reasons the extended library is automatically installed with the std. lib, and with the vienna key you get a number of starts to use the patches of the expanded lib as well, so you can test then.

Now your free demo starts will expire soon, then you will loose the ability to use patches from the ext. lib. They are marked with a L2 (Level2) next to the patch.

If you want to continue to use them, you have to buy the extended library of the SE.

  • I see that the extended collection I already bought is 325 Eur, the Extended collection is 395 Eur, but there is no way to upgrade just to get the extra instruments, it is demanding a full 395 Eur just to allow me to use the extra samples.

Shouldn't a difference of price just apply here since I've already paid for the Special Edition?

What kind of pricing is this? Or what am I getting wrong here?

    Thank you.

  •  The Extended does not include the Standard. Therefore you need to pay for both of them if you want to use both of them. As you've already paid ffor Standard, you will need to pay the extra for Extended. The full amount is something over £600.

  • The way it works is that almost all VSL libraries include a standard portion of the library and an extended portion of the library.  With the full collections, the extended libraries add additional articulations, while in SE, the extended libraries add additional instruments.  Buying a standard library first, and an extended library later requires two different purchases (note that VSL does offer a number of different bundles that combine related standard and extended libraries at an additional discount).

As for general discounts, owners of the various SE libraries do get discounts on the extended libraries of the full packages.  Within VSL, in the end, one does not pay twice for the same samples.  It is important to realize that the samples in the extended libraries are different from the samples in the standard libraries.  What you are looking at having to do now is purchase the extended portion of your SE library.  Honestly, the demo starts have, at times, caused people some confusion.  Note that VSL recently changed their policy, and have removed the demo starts provision from new Vienna keys.

  • I see it more clearly now, it's a great product I'm just confused about its marketing practices. I can't believe after 5 years using it now it asks me for money, it's like somehow my music is sequestered or held at ransom, I blame my self for not reading well the terms and conditions and I lament the fact that I won't be able to purchase the samples I've been using for so long as money is tight right now.

Thank you for your answer guys.

  •  Perhaps it is best to look at it another way, you have been using a 395Euro library extension for free that you didn't pay anything for. The library you have costs 720Euros, but you only paid 325Euros, and have managed to have 5 years use from it - so it's reasonable that at some point you would be expected to pay the outstanding 395Euros. Though I doubt if anyone expected the demo to run for 5 years !

When I first got VI Pro, I ran it as a demo, I bought it shortly after, but let the demo run to see how long it would run for, it lasted 4 months, and I was using it extensively every day through multiple daily loads as well. So the demo period seems to last a lot longer than suggested, although your 5 years must be a record.
