Vienna Instruments Crashes Sibelius
I had a score crash a little while ago, restarted, and now every time I try to load sounds from Vienna SE string, the score crashes. I can load the playback configuration with no score open, and I can load the score in a different configuration, but as soon as I switch to Vienna, Sib crashes. That's never happened before. Ideas? This seems to happen in my demo of 7. I rebuilt the configuration from scratch, as all the channel assignments were off, and it worked. But when I tried it in 6, it still crashed.

Hello Vilnai!
That's odd. If this only happens with this one Playback Configuration, I guess this Playback COnfiguration is corrupted. I would recommend rebuilding it, but it seems you have already done that succesfully with Sibelius 7. This should also work with Sibelius 6.
Best regards,

Thanks, Andi. I'm running OS 10.6.8 with 4GB of RAM. I never had a problem before, and I've been working on this score for about a month. I've downloaded the software, but I may wait until I install it, as I'm in the middle of a big project with a tight deadline. I'll report back as soon as I have time to check things.

Hey, Andi It's happening again.... Humming along nicely for a couple of weeks and then today, after two hours of work I added a staff (which doesn't use Vienna), copied some music onto it and it crashed. Now it crashes every time I load Vienna into the score. If I switch to a different configuration, everything is fine. Thoughts?....

I have been working on this score for about 5 weeks. It uses VSL for strings and Kontakt libraries for the wind. Last night I added an additional wind staff, and Sibelius crashed. I restarted, loaded the playback configuration, opened the score, and it crashed on opening. I tried that again, restarted, etc., and it was still crashing. Finally, I loaded a different configuration, one that doesn't use VSL, and the score opened fine, and I was able to work on it. The exact same thing happened the first time I posted (I don't remember what led to the crash, but after crashing, the score would not open with VSL). I posted at the time on the Sib page also, but they had no ideas.

Hello Jay!
Sorry to say, that I have no idea what makes Sibelius crash. This is the first time I have heard about a problem like this.
Maybe it is a RAM problem after all. I don't know much RAM Kontakt takes in your Playback Configuration.
You might want to take a look at your Activity Monitor while loading your Playback Configuration and see how much RAM is taken when Sibelius crashes.
Best,
Andi
