    Hi Guys, I've mapped out my new setup according to my old one, but with so much more to deal with, it's untenable.

     edit: I did try the maps supplied by VSL, but they don't think as I do.

    For example, I have four important motions in all of my matrices:

    running across the X grid in VIP (CC12) 

    running against the Y in VIP (CC13) 

    A/B (CC14)

    SlotX (CC16) - this generally moves between unmuted and muted samples (but not always).

    This (my controller lanes that I've set up) works perfectly but requires four lanes and I have to go back to VEP to see what each cell actually is to get it right.

    Is there any way to get this working in VST Expression so I can just click on the name ("Vi_detache_long_noVib" for example), rather than have to go into each cell and find what I'm looking for, then in controller lanes map out all of the parameters?

    I don't mind typing it all out per instrument, worth it in the end, but I can't figure the VST Expression screen out.

    Hello Shawn!

    It should be possible to create your own Expression Maps the way you want them with Cubase 6, but it will be a lot of work.

    You will have to create a sound slot for every possible combination that you might want to trigger. If you don't want combinations of expressions, you will have to create an articulation in the Expression Map Setup for every VSL articulation you might want to trigger.

    If you also want to use keyswitches, always keep in mind that Cubase numbers the octaves lower. (VSL C4 = Cubase C3).

    If you keep the same structure for your matrices, you can control them all with the same Expression Map.

    Hi Andi, thanks very much. I don't mind if it's a lot of work. Right now, all of my Special Edition strings, namely Orchestral and Chamber Vi, Va, Vc and Db, are mapped (in VIP) identically (when possible) and in general comprise about 12 X 3 grid. The Solo Strings matrices are much more complex, but also identical where possible. 

    I did go through the Cubase manual, this section, but found it rather confusing (I'm a bit of a MIDIot lol), so I will give it a go again.

    Knowing from your post that it is possible to do what I want just means I will keep trying things until it works:)

    I did the same thing. I created my own in VIP, then I created expression maps in Cubase. I stopped using the Cubase articulation symbols, etc. as it is very limited and created consistency problems, but I named everything in the expression set and those names show up under VST express, so I don't have to look at VIP to know what is what.

    Is that what you wanted? It works great for me, I just wish it took me less time to set it up and that Cubase would handle having loads of articulatoins better. It takes up FAR too much screen realestate to display my articulations (one of the benefits of notation, much simpler in that regard)
