  • Relink VSL in Logic

Hi there! I'm stuck with a problems I have since moving my VSL libraries to a bigger external drive. I could redirect the new file location in sibelius without a problem (by adding it to the vsl directory manager) but in Logic Pro 9 I can't find a way to tell the programm where the libraries are located. If I'm trying to load an instrument in Logic (Vienna Instrument), I get the message "File invalid or corrupt". How can I tell logic where it has to look for the VSL libraries? Any help is appreciated! thanks! balz PS: I'm working on OSX Snow Leopard

  • Logic itself doesn't actually need to be told where the files are .. what you have to do is to use the 'Directory Manager', that sits in your 'Vienna Instruments' folder in your Applications folder .. and either delete everything in there (Don't worry .. it only deletes the links as to where the files are!), and then drag over all your VI's so the Manager can now link to the correct locations.

After that Logic should be able to pick up on it without it being a problem. I often move my files around and so I have to do this fairly often. It's simple really. So just head to the Directory Manager and drag all your VI content into there.

    Hope this helps.

P.S. I believe there's also a tutorial video on installing VI's which show you exactly how this is done if you're not sure.

  • Hey Heto! As I've written above - I already did add the folders to the directory manager. So that was not the problem. I just checked Logic with Vienna Ensemble, and there it worked, there I could load all instruments. But if I choose the Vienna Instruments instance in logic, it still gives me an error message. The VI standalone works fine, by the way... I really don't know whats going on here... Any suggestions? all the best balz

  • Hmm, it is possible that you're using an older version of VI in logic than your version of VE? .. I found that once myself that my VI's stopped working because I had updated VE but not VI.

You might want to run the Logic Audio Unit validator .. it's in the logic menu somewhere .. and it tests that all your AU's work correctly. But first make sure you're upto date in your software .. also with your elicenser software.

Any further problems I'd suggest contacting the VSL support email. support@vsl.co.at

  • hey heto The Logic Audio Unit validator fixed my problem - after I rescanned the particular VI audio unit, it just worked fine again. Thanks so much for your help! all the best balz
