MIR & MIR Pro
Hello Dietz,I am a new comer of Vienna MIR,and ,I just come here found MIR Pro,can you tell me what is MIR Pro,is it diffrent with Vienna MIR? Thank you

Welcome OLD GOOD MAN,
thanks for your interest in Vienna MIR and MIR Pro.
These are the main new features for the upcoming MIR Pro:
- OS-X compatibility
- direct integration with most modern DAWs
- full latency compensation
- will work with any usual sample frequency, not just 44.1 kHz
- audio inputs
- LAN capability
- Automation of user-defined parameters
- MIDI-remote control of user-defined parameters
- Undo/Redo
- direct and/or stem outputs
- AUX-sends for individual instruments and input-signals
- enhanced possibilities for defining the format and for the handling of the virtual main microphone(s), including the option for using a secondary microphone in most Venues *)
- direct access to a tailor-made algorithmic overall-reverb for "sweetening" *)
- completely overhauled RoomPacks (... this Version 2 of all RoomPacks was made available already a few months ago for Vienna MIR 1.3, too ... read this announcement for details)
- many graphical interface improvements (like labels for the Instrument Icons, free colour selection and so on)
- many usability improvements and streamlined overall workflow, plus increased speed and stability (the code of MIR Pro is almost a complete rewrite, not just an enhanced version of MIR)
- less RAM usage of MIR itself (... instruments will have the same RAM usage, of course)
- direct compatibility with Vienna Ensemble Pro (... actually, MIR Pro will behave as some kind of glorified add-on to VEP, so all features that will be available with the upcoming Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 will be available within MIR Pro, too)
*) These are areas we're still working on right now.
Apart from that, we plan to capture some new Venues in the future.
... I hope I didn't forget anything worth mentioning. 8-) Of course, this information is preliminary and might change in some details for the actual release.
Kind regards,

Sorry to burst in here, but... That's really an impressing list. - The mentioned option of a secondary main mic makes me thinking a lot. What about phasing issues? Two roominformations - how doesn't the mix get muddying? I suppose it's to have a closer main mic for more amoung of direction signal and the second for more space information? A very amazing outlook! Regarding the stability - don't know, what to improve, 'cause MIR works more than stable. In a half year o n e crash (at a roughly handling) in a almost daily using. But it's easy to understand - with all these new features (different sample rates, undo/redo etc.... the completly new script will be necessary. Hope you'll make it rock-solid again! Thanks for all these information - even if I didn't ask for - always interesting to hear about the upcoming tool! I'm really looking forward to it and getting quite nervous... :-) Frank

Maybe I should rephrase that. You are right, MIR in it's recent incarnation is a very stable application already, and as a matter of fact I have seen hardly any support-cases in this respect at all. It's more about what happens if the user goes to the very extremes, and/or does seemingly "illogical" things. "Increased error tolerance" sounds better. 😉
