Hey guys, bike sold, got about $5K less than I wanted, but that's life:)
I want to dedicate $7K to music...would like more but that's all I have.
Unfortunately, out of that amount, I need samples (all Vienna) an 88 key keyboard (I'm going to get the MPK as I have the 49 and love it) and I also need to build a box to house all my samples in VEP. I'm running a quad iMac with 8Gb ram, and probably that will just be running Cubase when I'm done.
So the questions:
Should I build a Mac or PC for running all my samples and VEP? My concern is EWQL Symphonic Choirs is absolutely critical to me, like VSL stuff, and right now that doesn't work with the Mac. Does it work with Window 7/64? Is Play 3 going to fix the Max osx problem? I hope so!
And for samples, I have only the Special edition, extended, plus Epic. I'll buy Plus, that's a given. I want Solo strings all articulations (I'm a guitar player), no matter what, and I want some hollywood style brass, and some high-pitched winds, solo, too (I like Vivaldi a lot, but I like so many differnt styles and composers that I'm lost. Capriccio Espangol from R-K is one of my very favourites, very different than a Vivaldi concerto!).
If I do this wrong I'll be out of money without getting all I want/need, so any input will be much appreciated.
A list of what I have if it helps:
Cubase 4 (on a Mac)
VSL:
VEP
VIP
Special Edition Extended
Epic
a choir but I don't use it often
EWQL:
Symphonic Choirs
Ra
The Dark Side
Battery 3
Absynth 5
Superior Drummer 2 w/DFH
Miroslav/sample tank.etc. the bundle from IK - I never use it
Trilian and Trilogy
Computer: as noted, mid-2010 iMac 27": with 1Gb 7200 rpm drive, 8GB ram. All other drives are stupid external FireWire, slow because my card (M-Audio 2626) doesn't support the faster speed.
All suggestions welcome.
