Hi,
I can't remember exactly how I got into this place (I found it under my bookmarks recently) , but this demonstration site "Instrument Studies for Eyes and Ears" (made by the university of Indiana USA) with all orchestral instruments is a must see and must hear for all novices and more experienced people in instrumentation. Do you want to know more about the sound and different articulations of a tuba? The sound of different fingerings on a violin? Tuning possibilities of the timpani? This is the place to be!
It is presented with a video of a live player in the left part of the screen, the right part shows the score (and exactly what is played at that moment). An abundance of techniques of almost all woodwinds, brass, strings and percussion is demonstrated here right before your eyes.
Shortly: the best tutorial I have ever seen on the web. And without doubt a nice 'marriage' with all exquisite instrument info presented on this site by VSL (see the Vienna Academy). And not in the least: so much fun so see and hear all those musicians showing the possibilities of their instruments.
I simply couldn't resist offering you this opportunity, so this is why I added this to the VSL forum.......
enjoy!
