    Hi DG,

Thanks for your reply. I'll have a look now. I updated many months ago (probably not more than 6 months). I'm usually reluctant once something works ("if it ain't broke, don't fix it") but I'll have a look all the same. Thanks again.

The licence scanning has been improved dramatically over subsequent updates. Mine went down from over a minute to around 7 seconds. Some Mac users were seeing 3 or 4 minutes. So if your's is around 10 seconds, then don't bother but if it is in the region of minutes, then i wold suggest that you upgrade. If nothing else it will mean that you will be able to run newer products as and when you see some that you like.

  • I have my load of problem with Elicenser to,

It's true that the Elicenser have been improved a lot over the time, but at the begining it was simply an horrible experience.

Today again I forgot to insert my USB key, can't load the project, I had to forced quit Logic. And my software are ALWAYS up to date. If I'm on the road and I have to load a project without VSL's plugin, it's impossible without opening it with audio engine off and delete tracks.

I feel that costumers who bought such expensive tools deserve to not being slow downed by a copy-proctection tool. Of course I don't want it to be cracked. I just don't want to deal with Elicenser ''crash'' everytime i forget to put my key. Ilok never freeze the menu when opening a project. I just have to put the key or press cancel and everything is ok.

  • Update...

I just tried to load a full VSL Logic template on my new iMac without the syncrosoft key and yes, I could load it. Except that i had to press 40 time on the cancel button. But last morning, on the Mac pro, It does'nt worked at all, the menu was irrespondable, freezed.

  • Yeah, I hear you. I tried to start my car without the key this morning. It was so inconvenient. I had to open the car door, get out of the car, close the car door, walk back to my house, open my front door, walk through the doorway, close the front door, walk all the way to the drawer that I keep the key in, open the drawer, get the key, close the drawer, walk back to the front door, open the front door, walk through the doorway remember to close the door, walk back to my car, open the car door, get back in the car, close the car door, put the key in the ignition and try to start the car again. What a faff. Why on earth should I be inconvenienced like this by the car's protection system? [;)]

  • Thank you VERY much, Paul!

  • Yes, thanks for looking into it Paul, as you saw my complain was based on ELicencer imposing itself on VSL-independent programs. One 'cancel'/'abort' press should really be enough.

    True.

But I'm not complaining about the fact that there's a protection system. Its just that it's not working as expected sometimes. Good for you if you don't have any problems with it. But I had some. Maybe syncrosoft is better implemented on PC than on Mac.

When I forget my car key, i don't need to get my traction-aids in july.

And BTW, having a key on a car is made to protect the consumer from being stolen. This key is mostly made to protect the company who sales it to you. Big difference.

  • I was once also quite annoyed by this behavior and had to restart too when this happened. Yet a few months ago I accidentally discovered a way out without having to restart. When this window comes up I ignore it at first and instead start the eLicenser client, wait for it to display the licenses on my key and then quit the eLicenser client. When it's gone I click retry in the dreaded window. Problem solved, no needless restarts anymore. I hope this works for you too. I am on a MacBook with Snow Leopard, everything updated.

  • Strange, perhaps it is different with each DAW. I work through sonar, and i am constantly forgetting to insert the estick, sonar comes up with an error box also, but it has an, 'ignore, RETRY and close' options. put the stick in and hit retry, it tries again, finds it and whalla, off it goes like nothing ever happened.
