  • Dynamic control between Sibelius and Vienna Instruments???

Hello! I'm only working with the Vienna Special Edition and Sibelius for a few months. My problem is the dynamic control between Sibelius and VI. How can I obtain a perfect crescendo for example. Is it possible to control the velocity X-fade in Vienna Ensemble with Sibelius? I add a hairpin in Sibelius and in the Map Control of Vienna Ensemble I've tried to set Expression to "none" and velocity crossfader to "CC11" instead. But the playback is not smooth. The velocity controller jumps. It respond to Sibelius but it judders. Can ANYONE help me? I just want to hear a perfect crescendo/diminuendo playing Vienna Ensemble. Thank you very very much!!!

  • Hello xumeng12!

Sorry for the late reply. Somehow I overlooked your message.

Yes, it is indeed possible to control Velocity XFade with hairpins in Sibelius. How to do that is explained in the "Optimzing Sibelius Playback" manual, page 16. If you haven't done so yet, you can download it here:

If the values jump, it might be possible, that you have live velocity values entered for some (or all) notes in your score. These values contradict the values, that are generated by the hairpin and thus make the Velcoity XFade jump back and forth.

    Best regards,
    Andi
