  • Vienna Key: installing OTHER products on it?

Dumb question. I have my Vienna Key (obviously), with many VSL licenses on it.

Now, from what i understand, the Vienna Key e-Licenser is not too different from your typical i-Lok style dongle, in-so-far as its technical purpose. There arent too many other products who use Dongle licensing that im keen on.... however, there is ONE i'm considering purchasing which requires a dongle. But i am reticent to buy it if i also have to sheel out the cash for a specific i-Lok for just this ONE synth. Maybe im stupid, but can i, or am i "allowed," to put another company's Dongle license on my Vienna key alongside my VSL Libraries? Or does the Vienna Key ONLY recognize and allow VSL licenses?

Sorry if this is a stupid and easily answered question.

    Thanks!

  • If a product needs to use an iLok then you have to use an iLok. There are other companies that use the Vienna key (also called Steinberg key and formally called Syncrosoft) but iLok is a different key.

  • Aww, bummer! :( Well, thanks for your response DG. It's the XILS-LAB Poly KB synth i was interested in..... i knew there were some compatabilities between Steinberg and Syncrosoft keys, but i wasnt aware that i-Lok was its own entirely separate format.

    Anyhow, thanks for the info!

    Cheers
