    Is it possible to create metaframes where I can swap in and out instances of VEP? My biggest issue with VEP right now is that I have to create metaframes that cover every conceivable configuration of instruments that I may need. Rather than having to save metaframes, couldn't I instead save instances? This would allow me to create collections of instruments that I could swap in and out as I needed them. Say I had a "jazz" metaframe that covered all my jazz samples (with separate instances for my trumpets, bones, saxes, and rhythm section, etc.), and a separate "orchestral" metaframe that covered all my orchestral samples (woodwinds, brass, strings, etc). But then suppose I was working on an orchestral piece and suddenly decided that I wanted to make it a big-band plus orchestra piece. As it is right now, I would have to recreate my jazz metaframe within my orchestral metaframe (or vice-versa). This would be a huge undertaking. If I could just save collections of instruments as instances and swap them in and out, I could have the freedom to decide what each project needed. VEP gives me the power to create big templates, it's true-- but I am sure that many of us have various templates for different styles each with their own complex routing scheme. As it is right now these templates are all incommunicado. MOH

    Hello mohurwitzmusic,

    Why don´t you just save single instances with *.viframe files?

    A "metaframe" can be saved when the VE PRO SERVER is active, a "viframe" is saved when the VE PRO GUI of the given instance is active.

    Hi Paul, Thanks. At first I didn't see how I could then import those *.viframes into the Vienna Ensemble Pro Server to send over to my master computer-- when I tried to import *.viframes into VEP Server I get the error "Metaframe file integrity check failed". But now I see that I have to create an instance, give it a name, and then drag it over to the open instance. Great-- this changes everything for me! I no longer have to create a new metaframe every time I want to change up my template. Thanks again. Cheers, MOH

    Hi MOH, I have the same question you did. I didn't know there was an import command in the server or the vep host. I don't see any drag and drop feature either. It seems there should be a way to merge existing metaframes in to a larger metaframe which would solve the problem. Bill McFadden
