  • MacPro Master doesn't see PC Slave

I posted a question some time ago and no one answered so I'm thinking I asked it wrong or I wasn't clear.

Does anyone know the answer to this?  Is a router required between a mac and a pc?  or can they be connected directly with an ethernet cable (which works with Music Lab's Midi-Over-Lan)?  Any other advice on why my sequencer (Cubase 6 or DP7 on the MacPro) doesn't see the slave PC's VEP server?

Many thanks for the kind help provided on this forum!

  • Ensure that no firewall (be it software or hardware) is blocking relevant ports. Following network ports are used by VE Pro:

    - 6472 (TCP)
    - 6473 (TCP)
    - 6474 (UDP)
    - 6475 (UDP)
    - 6476 (UDP)
    - 6477 (UDP)

  • Thanks for the kind advice.  Still no joy.  I went into my network properties and added an IP address manually using 123.123.123.123.  is there a specific address i should have used?  my subnet mask is 255.0.0.0.  does that matter?  I also made sure VEP was advertising on the network and that my network control panel was also set to share and advertise.

I also set the TCP ports  as instructed above.

Does anyone have any other hints?

    Thanks.
