  • Strings Glissando

I only have the special edition purchased from school and I cannot find the string/brass glissando on it. Does any other version have them? Thanks

    Welcome cyrilyoung4ever,

You will find designated glissandos and performance glissandos in the Extended Libraries Orchestral Strings I, for the violins and Solo Strings I, for all instruments.

In the Special Edition, portamento is available for Solo Strings, Chamber Strings and Orchestral Strings.

    Best,

    Paul

  • Dear Paul, On the issue of glissandi, I wanted to ask if it might be possible to find a programming solution to realistic glissandi (or at least more realistic) using pitch bend. I thought of the idea of glissando xfade wherein VI Pro, knowing both the pitch bend range and the midi CC values for the CC controlling pitch bend, could perform xfades through the samples that are a semitone away from each other. VI Pro would crossfade into a similar place in the sample as its predecessor. But is such a thing even possible? Perhaps already spectral artifacts going from one semitone to the next? It would be great to be able to do long, slow glissandi over large ranges or quick glissandi off of pizz in cello, for instance. Anyway, if it were feasible and VSL were interested to add such a feature to VI Pro, I would be delighted. Warm regards, Peter
