I wonder what the approach for that will be. My sample libraries also includes some samples that where recorded in a room and sometimes also the stage position. For those it doesn't make sense to position them on stage. What will the approach be in MIR pro to include them in the mix with VSL and other dry sounds?
Hmmm ... hard to say. Recording samples "with reverb" is very different to the approach VSL developed for the absolutely free choice of position and space for each and every instrument.
The theoretically correct answer is: Try to avoid those samples when you plan to work with MIR.
The pragmatically correct answer is: Use them and see (hear) how far you get. "I it sounds right, it is right". Start with the MIR Icon for those samples set to completely dry, find a stage position that fits, and bring in MIR's room response gradually until it fits.
Personally, I would most likely try to mix those reverbated samples side by side with the results I get from MIR (i.e. I would mix them seperately).

Please, be realistic! 😊 I really like VSL, but I use whatever sample fits the music in that situation. Even though I would like to use VSL only! Right now I use a lot of creepy sounding strings. The choice inside VSL is rather limited since the libraries are more about the beauty of strings. In that Example I combine let's say a East West FX glissando (lots of Room and panning) alongside with a Xsample solo strings (some Room, but rather dry) and LASS (more room, re-panned, but not reverbish like East Wurst) and the almost completely dry VSL strings. So, everything has different demands, as you can see. I do this in VE pro right now. In the future I would like to be able to combine that with a lot of VSL in MIR. Will that be possible in MIR pro?
Another question comes to my mind, regarding Logic: It is very limiting, that the AU plugin only gives me 16 midi channels. For now I open another instance of VE pro, when the 16 channels are used up. In MIR pro (using the network feature) that would be not possible. Is there something planned to make more than 16 channels possible in one instance?
Dietz, I'm sure that many of us have a dryish recording space or are using other dry samples alongside VSL (such as samplemodeling), so it would be good to have a selection of Presets that would work for dry overdubs. Any thoughts on this?
... errr ... it must be me - [*-)] ... I don't get the point of all the questions today. Sorry for being slow-witted - but where exactly is the problem?

With all due respect: How more realistic than that do you expect me to get ...? 😕 ... Of course I know that quite a few VSL users use other libraries, too (some users don't, BTW). That's why I've written THEORETICALLY. I mean - come on! This is the VSL-forum, not VI Control where one is _expected_ to diss VSL products. I think I'm allowed to express my preference for our approach - at least here.

Please, Dietz. You got me wrong! No harm intended! I am in no way dizzing VSL! Why would I? I have almost all of your products? The thing is just, that over time I also purchased other ones, as your company also became a developer for a host (VEpro). So, please, don't be suprised or feel offended, when people ask questions regarding the use of other samples in your "host". I understand MIR pro to have network-capabilities like VE pro. Also, I understand "pro" the way, that this mir is gonna get my one and only mixing enviroment for orchestral stuff (including other sample players). So my questions are completely legitimate:
- some libraries have little room and are recorded in the stereo center. for those the general purpose profiles seem to be made
- but what about pre-panned samples (recorded in the seating position of the orchestra)? They just need some reverb? So it would be nice to be able to open VE pro on the same computer alongside MIR pro or even better: have the possibility to open instruments inside MIR pro, without the convolution engine, just with normal channelstrip capabilities, like sends an inserts, volume, pan, etc.
