Hi All
I'm looking for mixing/ mastering advice on a new track. You can hear it here:
http://www.pickup.composerlarkin.com/For%20Forums/Something%20or%20Nothing%20master%201%20not%20so%20happy%202%20-%20full%20on.mp3
Lately I have been pondering the importance of mixing and mastering post composition. Sure, it is important to polish a track to make it the best it can be - however it is the extent to which one must tweak and tweak that has me thinking. I recently decided to go back and mix this track, to hopefully beef it up. I began mixing the dry stems in a separate project, adding reverb (altiverb) and EQ, and eventually producing what I decided was in fact worse than the original. Following this, I jumped straight into mastering, and this resulted in the track in the above link. Perhaps it is because I was happy with the original reverbs (so I might try mixing with reverb on the stems) or because I just need more experience - i.e. - I open up my mix project, and I don;t know where to start. Does anyone have any advice they can give based on their listen of the above track?
Thanks,
Chris
