  • Vienna ensemble pro crashes

Hi everyone ! I happen to have trouble running a lot of vienna instruments pro inside : if I try to have more than 37 instances of vienna instruments pro (even completely empty), vienna ensemble pro shuts down without any warning. I tried different configurations, it's always that same limit, 37 instances, 30% of my cpu. I tried to create hundreds of buses, it didn't crash. But if I had VI Pro instances to reach 38 VIPro, it crashes. I also tried to add Vi "not pro", to see if the limit was behaving the same way. it doesn't. Nevertheless, I can see their linked, because adding Vienna instruments decreases the number of VI Pro i can add before crashing (only 32 if i had 10 VI). So I am a bit confused here. I also have another problem : If I try to load too many instruments (this time, using my RAM) there's a ceiling (around 1 Go in standalone) beyond which vienna ensemble pro crashes. Vienna isn't supposed to warn me if I overload my RAM ? I have the latest version of Vienna ensemble pro and Vienna instruments pro, but not the latest one of VE and VI. If anyone could help me with this, I would be grateful. Oh, also, I'm using a winXP 32 bits OS. I know i have a Ram limit, but it seems it crashes before that limit. Thx. oh, and sry for my english a bit clumsy, I'm french.

  • Hello Piougot,

Unfortunately there is no warning before you overload your RAM,  we´d have to sacrifice a significant ammount of usable RAM to play this on the safe side.

Please update ALL VSL Software, we have improved the copy protection for all products very recently.

It would also be interesting to know more about your computer specs....

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul ! For overloading the ram, it's not a big deal, I know what I can use, I just wanted to be sure that it wasn't a problem coming from my install. I have updated all my VSL softwares, but I still have the same problem. My computer specs are pretty small, that's why I was expecting some ram issues, but not some "empty instruments" issues ^^. XP pro SP3, Intel Core 2 Quad CPU 2.83 Ghz, 4 Go of RAM (well, 3.25, in fact, because of my 32 bits OS). I want to finish my current project before upgrading everything, because right now I can barely load 2 instruments at the same time (on the other hand, we could say it's good because it forces me to think before doing something, but it's still quite annoying). Oh, I work on cubase 5, but it's not really relevant because I have the same problems with both version of vienna ensemble pro (plug in and stand alone). I also got some strange stuff going on. I can't open Vienna instruments in stand alone anymore. Do you think my installation could be corrupted, that reinstalling everything could be useful ? I also got a little "hole" in my special edition on some instruments (my strings basses + doesn't have any fast rep articulations). I don't know if it's related. Thank you for answering me ! Another question, not related at all : I don't manage to organize my text on this forum : my posts are always big blocks of text, quite annoying to read. Is there something I can do ?
