  • Hey Paul, on my DAW I have quite a nice bundle of VSL-libraries, Vienna Suite and Vienna MIR (all purchased and installed about a month ago) - working fine. Today I updated the eLC and several VSL-software-products (VI, VE, Vienna Suite) from the e-licenser/VSL-websites - all working fine, too. However I have problems updating the libraries: Using your former "Library Updates" (.exe-files) - which I tried a few weeks ago right after the installation of my boxed library-products - only got me the message "0 files were updated". Trying to drag/drop the actual "viupdate"-files (from a connected USB-stick on to the Directory-Manager-window) does not work either; I get a "Not Possible"-sign, once my mouse touches the Directory-Manager-window. Can you give me a clue? Thanks, gandalf2

  • Hi gandalf2,

Did you try to drag the Library Updates right on top of the folder list in the Directory Manager?

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul, thanks for your reply. What exactly do you mean by "right on top of the folder list"? Here`s what I do in detail: I open the Directory Manager by klicking on it in the Start-Menue of Windows 7 (bottom left). Once the window of the Directory Manager comes up, it shows all my installed libraries on my internal harddrives E:/ and F:/. I drag the whole window to left side of the monitor-screen. On the right side of the monitor screen I open the content-window of my USB-stick, which shows all the viupdate-files I downloaded to it before from the VSL-website. Then I grab the first viupdate-file with a left-mouse-klick and try to drag it over/on to the window of the Directory Manager on the left side of the monitor-screen. Once my mouse-pointer leaves the content-window of the USB-stick everything is still fine, meaning the mouse-pointer shows the viupdate-file as a "grabbed" attachment. However, once my mouse-pointer reaches any point/part of the window of the Directory Manager, the mouse-pointer seems to loose the "grabbed" viupdate-file and changes into a "Not possible"-sign. Any further ideas are highly appreciated :-) g2

  • Hello g2,

This should work just fine when you drag the library update DIRECTLY on top of the list that shows the content in the Directory Manager. Maybe you drag the Library Updates onto your desktop instead of installing from your USB stick.... might be a permission problem as well.

    Best,

    Paul

Actually, that was the problem! It all worked out fine, when I dragged the viupdate-files from the USB stick to the desktop and from there - in a second step - onto the Directory Manager. Thanks for your help in the middle of the night, Paul - hope this thread is useful for others after all. Greetings from snowy Hamburg, g2

  • Hi Paul,

I love you guys -- I really do. And the frequent updates are VERY much appreciated. Thanks to all.

However, a request (as asked by others in the forum as well) -- can you guys please send a courtesy email when you drop new versions? Your email system is very good at sending sales newsletters but something as "minor" as a version upgrade with many bug fixes would be as useful to me as a sale announcement. Not all of us read the forum daily (I haven't been here in more than a week <gasp>)

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

  • re: Build numbers

in the past, VE Pro and VI Pro build numbers were identical -- I see now the build numbers do not match. Is this an error in my user area, or is this just how it is? Thanks for clarifying.

    J

  • It's how it is. There have been no changes whatsoever in VI Pro between 7349 and 7384 and VE Pro integrates VI Pro regardless of an actual installation of VI Pro.

Ah -- so there is no need to install newer builds of VI Pro if we install VE Pro? Thanks for clarifying this.

  • Hi,

there is no need indeed, especially if there are no newer versions... [;)]
