  • Sorry Dietz, I mean Project.  It doesn't seem to load the samples until I click on one of them to bring up its instrument, when it then starts loading ( the loading bar starts showing the percentage starting from 0%).  Next time I start up MIR (I am in the middle of a massive project at the moment!) I will leave it for a while to see if it does do it by itself over time......Very odd behaviour though I agree.  I have a powerful (ish) system - Intel i7 920 with 12g ram - so that isn't the problem.

    Thanks for your quick response....

  • Just a wild guess - did you unintentionally disable the option "Start MIR engine on application startup" in MIR's preferences? (... details on p. 29 of MIR's manual)

  • No, Just checked that.  The room impulses seem to be loading OK - just not the samples until I start the VI.

  • Are you using VI exclusively, or 3rd party VSTi's, too?

  • I have so far used Battery 3 as well as VI pro in this, my first MIR project.  I haven't checked if there are loading delays with this - I will do when I restart MIR to see what happens.

  • Could it be that you are fooled by the fact that MIR isn't tell you explicitly that it's loading samples? When reloading an existing Project, MIR will do its things without much visual feedback until the moment it re-constructs the actual IR-data (which takes place when you see the blue bar build up in the Status Line below the Main View).

    Kind regards,

  • That is indeed very possible!  I see the IR data blue bar no problem, and quite quickly upon opening the project.  It is just that the sample data doesn't seem to load until i open an instrument.  I will check later when I finish with MIR later today ( I told you it was a big project) and see what happens if i just leave it to its own devices.

  • Maybe the sample data is just _still loading_ when you open the VI GUI. VIPro allows for sample loading in the background, i.e. you can use VIPro while it's actually still loading data.

  • If I leave the loading of this large project (about 10 G including MIR) to its own devices (about 4-5 mins) it has loaded OK.  It is just the visual feedback which was 'tricking' me into thinking that the loading only started when I click on an instance of VI pro I think.  Not a show stopper by any means - just a 'feature'!  Thanks for your attention Dietz.

  • You're welcome!
