I must say that with about half of the .cab files corrupt after downloading via Safari browser and having to compare checksums by hand because the MD5 software manuals aren't clear, my decision to buy the download versions appears to be a real mistake. This is taking way too much time to check and re-check and I have a fast cable connection.
Update: I FIGURED OUT THAT SAFARI IS A POOR CHOICE FOR DOWNLOADING WITHOUT A DOWNLOAD MANAGER ON THE MAC. IF YOU HAVE THIS PROBLEM, USE FIREFOX WITH THE EXTENSION CALLED "DOWNTHEMALL" INSTEAD. IT HAS CHECKSUMMING BUILT IN, APPARENTLY, BECAUSE THERE'S A FIELD IN WHICH YOU PLACE THE CORRECT CHECKSUM BEFORE IT'S DOWNLOADED. DOWNTHEMALL WITH FIREFOX PRODUCED ZERO DOWNLOADING ERRORS.
