• Hi all,

thanks for the replies. I want to try again the thinks to put in order.

The solution for the "could not load plugin" message was known before - so sorry DG, this drum roll was to late.[;)]

I assumed the issue has to do with protection systems. To be clear - only the odd behavior of some (protected) Kontakt-librarys - they will double loaded on every reloaded MIR projekt was giving a hint to this assumption. It doesn't happen so with unprotected libs.

The double loading increases the load time only - so it is not really a big problem.

But it   c o u l d   to be responsible for the issue, that some instances will not be fully loaded. (Solution is purge and reload.)

The underlying issue are the crashs on save of reloaded MIR projekts.

Could be too, that one thing has nothing to do with others.

It seems the issues depends of used system.

So my question for Dietz and/or Karel: Do you try to reproduce the issues on different systems?

As I wrote some time ago, in Cubase on same system I don't experience none of this issues.

So, my vsl-certified workstation should has been not the wrong way to go for MIR.

    @paoling

Don't have WIVI Instruments there own positioning/room-software? I don't own WIVI, but I remember on there web-side was a

special interface. So I don't know, maybe it is better with WIVI than to go this way...Thanks for your reply again.

    Kind regards

    Frank

  • The reason I call it a solution, is that so far I don't have to do anything else, apart from the dummy instance of Kontakt. I have VI Pro and Kontakt 4.1 in the project and all plugins and samples are loaded correctly every time.

FWIW I currently have 116 Instruments in this template.

    DG

  •  Yes, the size of a template makes no difference. Btw, I can use for the dummy instance everything else.

  • Hi doubleattack, the room emulation of WIVI is in my opinion not comparable to MIR. Moreover, if I want all the instruments to be convincing in the same room, I think I should play with dry and wet parameters in MIR.

The workaround works even for me. I noticed that the not fully loaded kontakt instances are almost a "feature" of kontakt. They load only the samples that are played by the project, the other are put off to sleep. When you play a note for the first time, it will be loaded by the instance and the second time it will be played; this is a way to save RAM, but I'd like to have the choice to use that or not.

  • OK, just got the "could not load" again. I guess it means that I have to take Kontakt out of MIR. Which sort of defeats the point. Back to VE Pro? [:(]

  • Daryl, have you read this thread? -> http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/t/26985.aspx

Would be interesting to know if this is the problem in your case, too.

  • I don't have any Kontakt player installed. Only Kontakt.

    DG

  •  DG, try to use a dummy vsl or vsl pro instance at least. This works for me.

Kontakt player is the free Version of Kontakt (with Kontakt player you can't use the script features).

Do you mean with Kontakt player the Kontakt library?

I tried that, and thought that it fixed the problem. However, it is back.

I only use Kontakt. I never installed any of the free Kontakt players.

    DG

  • Does it mean, the instance before the dummy instance will not be loaded???

  • No, whatever I do it's always the last Kontakt instance in the project that doesn't load. I'm going to try putting a "protected library" instance at the end of the project today, rather than an empty one, to see if I can get it to screw that one up, and leave the rest alone...!

    DG

  •  Ok, keep the results posting, much appreciated.

Maybe "protected library" was a bit bewilderingly, it means in fact 3part library of Kontakt beside the Kontakt library. So sorry for my inaccuracy. Would be interesting weather do you have 3part librarys of Kontakt - cause they are protected in the "Service Center" of NI instruments and if you are sure they all are in 64 bit. Cause I realised that "ethno world 4" which I own was definitely 32 bit - and I didn't know this before, cause it was shown (and works!) inside Kontakt 4 (64bit), but causes that I get into troubles with saving MIR projects probably.

    Thanks for reply.

  • On the Mac, there is a load order sequence whereby PLAY must be loaded first in sequential order, followed by Kontakt. Could this be a similar situation here whereby load all vsl first followed by kontakt?

  • Peter, that is to do with conflicting memory servers, due to the fact that OSX is rather late to the game with 64bit. In Windows there are no memory servers, because Kontakt and PLAY are both 64bit, so it should make no difference.

  • I'm doing a very large orchestral template now, with 20+ kontakt instances.
I left one VSL instrument at 6th place the firsts 5 kontakt instruments. I think that there's a problem in that particular position.
No problems for now. Every instance I add I save a MIR project with incremental save (now I'm to 39 saved). I don't fully load every instance with articulations, just one or two per instance.
Incremental saving let's me to revert back to the previous saves, and every 1-2 saves I close MIR and reopen and see if it opens the project. Every 10 saves I reboot my PC and see if MIR opens.
If there's a problem, for me, it's not related by kontakt itself, but with generic 3rd party plugins. And in my opinion, it's totally non-related to protected or unprotected libraries and even less to 32 bit or 64 bit libraries (since you load the samples and the original kompakt player is totally absent in this workflow).

I' m fairly happy for now but I'm very very cautious about everything I do, in MIR. Like walking on a mine camp :-) (sometimes it crashes at loading the project, but I insist, and it opens)

  • This thread should be renamed to:
Problems with Kontakt 4 and MIR? There may be not an easy solution! But it's worth it! :-)

  • Problems even with 3rd party plugins in the 16th position... let's put a VSL instrument there... And put the kontakt plugin in the 17th place.

Are we finding a solution? :-)

  • Nice - and funny too! - to read all the different experiences and assumptions. Ok, maybe it get's a bit  esoteric - included myself.  [:D]

But normal, we are artists, right?

So, to say some practically - a new Kontakt update is available (4.1.3.). NI technic support gave me the hint. Does it mean good news?

Didn't try out it yet, later the day I will giving a feedback about.

Thanks Paoling for reply - very interesting. The work arounds are good and I feel the "purge feature" in the same way.

Have noticed too in vi-control forum your MIR example for positioning and room was the most convincing. (Did not really be surprising for me.) Anyway, very interesting comparison. When MIR pro (with the possibilty using of audio tracks) starts to release, they all will switching to it, sooner or later. - Ok, a new allegation, but it seems not to be so esoteric, doesn't it?

Then Dietz should get the Nobel Prize for Peace for the idea of MIR, cause the rowings between composers and engineers are a shady past.

    Kind regards

    Frank

    😉

No, why? Its for the Nobel Prize of  p e a c e  only - not for solution of wholeheartedly problems like positioning of somehow asunder puzzeled instruments... [:D]
