  • New pieces of music

    Hi everybody,

My name is Mark, i'm fairly new to writing with VSL... I've been trying to develop my (programming) skills over the past 2 years in my spare time (I work as a MD in Dutch theatres).

I've heard some really great music by Jay, William, Mike, Guy and others and thought: let's see where I'm standing... (be nice!)

I've put 2 short pieces on my site:  http://www.motifmusic.nl/index.php/music/orchestral

The first one obviously being somewhat of a tribute to John Williams, the other one is... well...  Odysseus struggling to get home I guess! :-)

I'm specificly wondering how to make the overall sound better, I find it very hard to get it REALLY good...

Hope to hear from you, thanks in advance!

  • I am a total VSL newbie myself... and I like what you did here. I find the dynamics of the first piece especially impresive. The sound quality... what can I say... I find myself struggling a lot, too. I am going to get a good "body of work" together first, trying to get everything else right, and then I'll take a week or so off and focus on EQ - I reckon this may be all your music needs from here on, too.

  • Thanks... nowadays the BIG sound tends to be the only sound. VSL is the one library that makes is possible to express the whole range... from ppp to fff...

By the way -> I think the big sound should still sound natural. Prokoviev and Mahler can make an orchestra blow your pants of... with pure music.

Let me know when you post your work!
