  • MIR & Latency - full orchestra mock-up

I would like to know what difference the latency makes on MIR performance. For example, if I double the latency, will I be able to use double the instruments in MIR? I have a modest computer (standalone): 2 x 2.8MHz Xeon CPUs with 32 gigs RAM (supermicro superserver) - No i7!!!

I am not fussed with latency as I perform my scores with Sibelius. What is the max latency available using MIR (on top of the soundcard)? Can I expect a rendering of a full orchestral score (3333-4331-perc-hp-strings) if I am not concerned with latency (don't care if it take a minute!).

    Cheers

    Leif

  •  Your best bet is to download the demo and try for yourself, as all machines throw up different issues.

From memory the maximum latency is x16, I think.

  •  This is a test I made I think 2 years ago with half the RAM you have.

Now I think I could make better:

    Buffer multiplier

    MAX instruments

    Max CPU usage
