  • [SOLVED] Vienna Ensemble Pro Disappointment...!!!!

    Hi,

It's been 5 months that I purchesed VEP. I downloaded the demo first, fell in love and then bought a download vs.

The demo was perfect as I said but after I bought the original one, could not manage to work with it...!

Still trying to solve what is going on with my main PC and Mac slave...?

    Tried everything....!

Just want to return to the beginning. Because I installed and uninstalled the program may be thousands times...

    So, please,

Do any of you guys know how to uninstall Vienna Ensemble Pro from Windows Xp ?

I mean really uninstall. Not only from ADD/REMOVE from windows system. Like dll's, some file left overs... Everything must go...!

Later on, I mean After I manage to uninstall everything, I will install the VEP one more time and share all the story here to find a solution.

    Thanx...

    A.R.A.

  • Perhaps you could shed some light on what exactly is not working for you in your setup? This way we could help you in a more efficient way.

Uninstalling VEPro on Windows is done properly with the Windows Add/Remove function.

    Thanks,

  • Thank you for your reply and advice.

    Here is what I have.

Firstly, Cubase, elicencer, VEP and all my system drivers are up to date.

I start VEP Server, then Cubase. Then I start VEP as a vsti instrument.

When I open VST3 version, first I get an error message which is :

An exception occurred. Save your work and restart the application. The exception was thrown because of the plug in : Vienna Ensemble Pro

I click OK then the plug in just opens in a half centimeter box and does not work at all in any forms, and windows. I can't expand the view or do anything else at all.

Now it is just a half centimeter square box, only on off switch, bypass and freeze switches are visible but working. Nothing works else.

In VST2 version I don't get that message but the rest and the outcome is still the same.

Just want to make sure that this was not like this when I first installed the demo version. It happened after I instal the real version.

The only changes after the demo vs in my DAW are the latest updates of eLicencer and Cubase (5.5 & 5.5.1)

    Thanx...

  • In my humble opinion, the sun went down on Windows XP shortly after Windows Vista was released. [:(]

Microsoft is not keen on announcing to the world that they do not support a platform; I noticed my installer for XP stopped working sometime in mid to late 2007-had to move up. I contacted Microsoft about the issue with the installer but they were of no use. The oft remarked upon devious nature of Microsoft is really a fact[6]

-some say they broadcast what is virtually malware to make the old software run slower-I see that effect and feel it already with Vista-I'll probably not be able to hold out until the next upgrade which not due until early 2012. [:@] The predictable outcome of all this is that the system becomes unstable-

Another Microsoft phenomena is the constant updating, I have seen an update  cause new conflicts that were not present before the update-backtracking is almost impossible-the update gets stuck in your system.

Also, Windows XP is rather limited in the memory it can address, have you considered moving to a newer system?

    Just some random  thoughts.[G]

  • I am very happy with XP like many other film composer in LA.

    But thanx for your thoughts..

On the other hand Vista was a mistake even for Microsoft.

Now checking W7, If it survives in the near future, it will take place in our systems...

    :)

But, the subject is different here...

I am looking forward to a solution from VSL technical guys...

I am suspicious about a dll missmatch...

  • You really need to contact support about this. There are many people who have been using VE Pro for a year now with no problems, so if must be something specific with your system.

Regarding XP, there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't be using XP, even though you will be limited to running only a few instruments. Windows 7 has not been a pleasant experience for me, so I understand your reluctance to upgrade.

  • Problem solved with the 27 August update...!

    Thanx to everyone...

    Happy..
