  • [SOLVED] eLicenser issues with VE Pro 6844-7043

Hi.  I'm running xp64 and Cubase 4.5 and am reluctantly on VEP 5436 due to the issues with silence on export in Cubase with later versions.  However with the release of 6844 I figured it was time to brave the install.

However, I tried updating to 6844 but was confronted with the following message...

"Application 'VSL ' has caused the following error

DCOM connection to proram 'Synsopos.exe' failed   Error. The server threw an exception"

I downloaded the latest eLicenser, which then insisted I install .NET2.0 which I dutitfully did.  However, I still get the same error message on attempting to install 6844.  Is this something to do with the new installer incorporating changes related to the new VI software?

    Brett

  • The latest VEP doe s not work on XP64, so you need to stick with one of the previous versions.

  • Thanks for that DG.  Short of me trying the last few releases you don't happen to know which was the last version working on xp64?

    Cheers - Brett

(perhaps it's time to set aside a few days to make the switch to W764 after my current project is delivered.  Anything I should look out for?)

  • I think I'm using 6150

    DG

  • I can't go there I'm afraid.  v6150 has the Cubase silence on export bug as reported at http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/t/25830.aspx so is unuseable.  I guess I could try 5814 (except it's not on the downloads page any more) otherwise it's back to 5436 unless the gents at VSL have any other suggestions.  Paul or Karel?

  • Hi Brett,

a new version which fixes the XP incompatibility is currently being tested and should be released soon - If you have the time, I´d suggest to wait.

    Hope that´s OK for you!

    Best,

    Paul

  • That's great news Paul.  Thanks once again for the exceptional communication on these forums.

On a side note, is there any way interested users can be automatically notified of new releases?

    Cheers - Brett

  • Hi Brett,

thanks for the kind feedback, always appreciated [:)]

We´re sending out newsletters with every major release, but we´re trying not to annoy you with notes about every single update. An RSS feed might be a good idea for those who are interested, I guess. Let´s see if and when we could add that feature.

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul.

For what it's worth, I finally moved off 5436, and I'm afraid I get the same synsopos error described above with all subsequent releases, including the latest 7043.  Perhaps I'm the last person here still on XP64!  Anyway, the fix you said was coming above hasn't worked here so do I take it that xp64 users are left on 5436  (save for the cubase 5 silence on export issue with 6150 which otherwise works here)?

    Brett

  • 7043 should work without issues on XP64. Please make sure to update ALL your VSL software however, as there might be conflicts with the older versions that still use the vsldaemon.

  • Thanks Karel.  I hadn't updated VI for ages.  That, and re-updating the eLicenser appears to have done the trick.  I'll post if I encounter any probs with 7043 in a new post, but so far so good.

    Cheers - Brett
