Firstly a big thanks for the improvement in VSL license scanning times on first boot-up with the introduction of VI Pro. It has also as a by-product vastly improved the license scan of the basic VI. In my case this has dropped from 2'35" (for pretty much the whole VSL library) to 1'20". VI Pro hits the ground running after only 20" (or 5" if VI has already been launched) and launching VI after VI Pro only takes 1:05".
The only fly in the ointment is Vienna Ensemble the license scans do not sit very well with the VI plug-in or stand-alone (see times below) it doesn't recognise the licences have already been scanned for VI (same the other way round) and the first instance in Logic always has an error message (can't connect with server). This behaviour only appeared with the introduction of the 64 bit VI and is currently still a problem with the latest versions - so a fix here would be good.
Launch times of AU following first boot in Mac OS 10.6.4/Logic 9.1.1/Mac Pro 3.2 Quad/ VSL content on RAID SATA drives. (Launch times are the same for the stand-alones)
In order:
<< VI 1.20 - VE 2.00 (crashes) - VI Pro 0.05 >>, << VI 1.20 - VI Pro 0.05 - VE 2.05 (crashes) >>
<< VI Pro 0.20 - VI 1.05 - VE 2.05 (crashes) >> , << VI Pro 0.20 - VE 1.40 - VI 2.35 >>
<< VE 1.55 - VI 2.25 - VI Pro 0.10 >>, << VE 1.55 - VI Pro 0.05 - VI 2.10 >>
