When you create a new BLANK (empty) server instance in VEPro, it is actually creating a master bus, and an empty VI as well... so ANY changes to the default (blank/empty) instance will prompt the "do you want to save or overwrite" dialog. In my opinion, this "feature" can be confusing. Of course, you want to overwrite/don't save changes -- since you want to LOAD an existing file OVER the default parameters.
IF ONLY VEPro would default to a blank/empty instance, this would not be an issue for many. IMAGINE if you launched an email client, and by default all new documents had placeholder text and other junk in the document (thinking they were doing you a favor), and every time you OPENED a previously saved document, you had to confirm that yes, you wanted to overwrite the existing document (do you want to save changes?). Of course that would be confusing. Many would consider this bad interface design. But just like web browsers that think they are doing you a favor by making bing.com your "home page" -- VE Pro thinks they are helping you by making the default document populated with stuff. Maybe someday this will change. I hope so.
If you saved a "project", that's a viframe. Open your saved viframe - what do you see?
Just remember, a single instance is a viframe (also known as a project).
Multiple viframes all open at the same time (multiple server instances) are saved as a metaframe.
