  • VEPro Instances VS Channels?

Before I spend a couple days testing this out, I wondered if anyone in the community or at VSL already had an answer on this.

Lets say the template I am wanting to create called for 64 audio channels to get all the instrument separation desired coming into my DAW.

Is it less strain on the computer to use only 1 instance and set the audio channels to 64? Or is it a neglible amount of added strain to use 4 16-channel instances?

I'd prefer to use more instances and fewer channels for organizational reasons, but didn't know if that is going to tax the computer significantly more once I get them all loaded up. If there is no difference so long as the audio channels remain the same, it might even be preferrable to use 8 instances with 8 channels, etc. etc.

Anyone have experience on this issue?

    thanks!!

  • I've found it's better to use more instances. I think multiple cores handle instances better in terms of thread handling.

  • ...Which is another point pro logic vs cubase ( http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/t/26120.aspx ) as in Logic one has to use more instances cause of the AU limitation (which I until now considered a main pro for cubase vst3) Thx again! Very needfull Infos!
