  • Joining notes together

Hi I am new to using sample instruments.. I am delighted with the sounds. But I need advice on how to join them convincingly, eg in a slow legato cello line, how do I make the notes flow realistically into the next one ? At the moment they jump abruptly, or the end of the last one switches of the subsequent one ? Are there any resources, tutorials etc on how to do this properly ?

  • To clarify, you mean to say that, even with a legatopatch selected, the note transitions in a slow legato line still sound unrealistic?

Assuming you're talking about the legato patch, make sure the release fader is turned up to at least 65.  The attack fader should also be turned up a bit as well.  Personally, I move the Attack fader constantly during recording.

  • When you use legato patches you have to overlap your notes to trigger the legato effect. (Sorry if you already know that!)
