    Hi, Just curious: the Special Edition "Standard" DVD install that I have has added all the "Extended" patches as "L2" (which I suppose are the ones I have 180 launches left for). If they are physically installed (i.e. sample and patch data are there), then why is it that "you can’t expand your Vienna Special Edition DVD Standard Library with the Vienna Special Edition Download Extended Library, but only with the DVD Extended Library. However, it’s possible to expand the Vienna Special Edition DVD Collection with the Special Edition PLUS Download Collections." Isn't just a serial/licensing issue? Why this limitation? Thanks.

    Hello Talino,

    the download products have different licenses than the DVD products. And you always need the corresponding Standard Library available to be able to download the Extended Library of this collection.

    Hello, Please forgive me but for the life of me I can't figure out how to add carriage returns in forum posts. – It's one paragraph fits all – I *have* looked at the upgrade paths which, if I trust quite a few comments on this forum, I'm not the only person to find confusing. Especially when, looking at the very same graph you suggested that I view, the DVD and download versions of the Special Edition are not differentiated at all (they are both on the top left of the graph, with arrows pointing to the individual download instruments as well as to the DVD collections. There is *no* visual cue suggesting they are different.) To be clear, I have absolutely no problem making a trip to the shop here and getting the Extended DVD instead of downloading it. I'm just curious as to the technical reasons for it. The fact that DVDs and downloads "have different licenses" doesn't really help. Why is that so? If my Standard DVD has put all the L2 samples on my hard drive, where is the problem in buying an Extended license off the site? To push it further, why are Extended DVDs needed at all, if all the audio is already there in the .cab files and all that's missing is a license on my Vienna key? The reason I insist is that I'm a newcomer to VSL and, while excited by the ease of use and quality of the instruments, I do find – like many others apparently – that the licensing, bundling and other articulation intricacies are a little bit over the top, even for seasoned DAW/VI users. Thanks for your help.

    Hi. Still no reply. I checked with the store and was informed that there is no "Extended" library on DVD, the only DVD products being the SE and SE Plus. Therefore, the sentence in the product page which says "Please note that you can’t expand your Vienna Special Edition DVD Standard Library with the Vienna Special Edition Download Extended Library, but only with the DVD Extended Library" is very misleading. If I understand correctly, buying the "Extended" library from the website merely provides a license for the Vienna key which unlocks the "L2" instruments. Is this the case? Thanks.

    Correct.

    To get paragraphs, please go to your PROFILE and set the Content Editor in the Community Settings to "Advanced".

    I´d love to discuss this topic more, but I simply don´t have the time.

    Thanks for clearing it up for me. If anyone else has time to elaborate on this issue, I would love to understand why the SE product page states what seems to be the opposite of the right procedure.
