  • Old East west quantum leap instruments, not play

    I wonder if anyone has success in getting the old: East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Platinum Brass / XP; East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Platinum Percussion / XP; East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Platinum Strings / XP; East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Platinum Woodwinds / XP; and East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Platinum Woodwinds / XP Working under VE Pro; Well, it load but i have a very high level of clicks and pops; I don't have Kontakt 4 - so this is not an option; besides, i know the EWQL interface very well; Please advise;

  • Hi, I use Platinum pro xp (Kontakt version) all the time as Play is still a pain in the ass! you really ,really need to get Kontakt 4!its worth every penny and works brilliantly in Ve Pro not to mention you get a free 30+ Gb library and its 64bit aswell so you can access all your ram,and theres no pops and clicks. Are you referring to Kompakt,wow its time to move on,you wont regret it Kontkat 4 is very user friendly. Dean.

    Dean, are you using them on the same platform you were using before you started running VePro?  I too was using my custom configured Kontakt versions of Platinum Pro XP on my G5.  I built an i7 Windows 7 PC and moved the library over to the PC and am now hosting everything in VePro servers.  Most of the large custom multis that worked flawlessly on OSX, were not able to find individual samples in the monolith sample packages the EW used for the library, and thus, would never load correctly.  I even re-installed the whole library from the original DVDs.  Their tech support scoffed at me when I asked them about it -- mentioning something about the product being very old, and not tested on Windows 7.   Seemed pretty lame to me......  I finally just gave up and had to rebuild things in Play.  Mostly working, but there are occasional issues, including the 'noise burst' distortion blast that is always quite enjoyable.... 😊

    Have you ever had issues with samples not being found. (finding and pointing the Kontakt search engine to the exact file did not work either...).  Anyway, just curious.

  • Works great on Kontakt here, I like it much better than PLAY.  And I'd strongly agree with the recommendation to upgrade to kontakt 4.1.  It was great software already but the latest version is a huge improvement.

  • I_did_upgrade to Kontakt 4.1, and Kontakt will not parse the monolith sample files correctly and throws up 'can't find sample xx' or something like that.  Are you using it on OSX or Win PC?  Everything works great on my G5, but I have now migrated all virtual instruments to PC and am having this problem with my custom multis... so have had to re-create in Play.  I would definitely prefer keeping them in Kontakt.

    Have you ever had any loading issues like this (can't find the samples....)?  I never had this until I took the lib over to PC.

    Thanks!

    - Greg

  • I'm on mac, maybe there's a problem specific to PC.  On my machine it may sometimes not find the sample directory but if I point it to the folder then it's fine.

    You might want to ask on either the NI or EW message boards about your issue.

  • Yes, it does seem to be specific to the PC for sure.  When I have pointed it to the exact file it is looking for, it says it can't find it, and thus the sample inside...  I'm checking with NI to see what they have to say about it.  EW just told me it was a very old product and it is not supported on windows 7...  Of course, the EW samples are the only ones I have had problems with...

    Thanks for your input, Mike!

    Best,

    Greg

  • When Kontakt says it can't find the sample, all I do is point it at my Kontakt samples drive, and the it's fine. Also make sure that you re-build the database.

  • Yes, I do that too, and everything is listed in the database.  You can even see which nks file it is looking for, browse straight to it, select it, and then..... Kontakt still returns a 'can't find the file'......   So, I had to just give up and rebuild in Play the things I needed.  NI hasn't had too much to say either.

  • Thanks guy's for all your input, though i'm still confused on which way to go; I'm on the Windows platform, but folks are having problems in getting Kontakt 4.x to see the library files etc; I believe with Play i'll have to buy the entire library again, that ain't happening; I'll probably go down the Kontakt 4.x route; I wonder if there is anyway in Kontakt 4.x to get the interface as in kompakt? Thanks again;

    You will find that Kontakt will breath a new lease of life into your libraries, due to the much more advanced features. Sure it will have a learning curve (doesn't everything) but it will be worth it in the end. Iwould also recommend never letting yourself get too far behind the update cycle in future,so that you don't have such a daunting time when you are forced to upgrade due to non compatibility with OS. etc.

  • HEy, Im on Mac so I cant really help you re PC format,sorry. Forget emails,You should actually telephone Native Intruments while sitting at your DAW and trouble shoot the problem. I recently had a few problems which they trouble shooted over the phone and it was all fixed! (I dont know if its different for Pc) but In your NI Platinum Xp library sub-folders,(Brass,strings,woodwinds,Perc),do you have all the nkc. and nks.files?and in your instrument folder are all the nki. files there in their subfolders? Are all your libs acticated in you NI account? Again,I highly recommend Kontakt 4,its the most reliable and user friendly sample player on the planet!(You cant see the Kompakt gui in Kontakt,..its really time to move on.)Kontakt 4 may also solve your missing files issue. Kontakt 4 works brilliantly with all the NI versions of EWQL libraries,I use them all the time aswell as the upgraded Play versions. You dont have to buy the libraries again,you can crossgrade or upgrade to PLay and still keep and use all your NI versions of the EWQL libraires,thats what I do,..its the best of both worlds! Dean.
