  • Logic Crashes when there are more than 24 instances of VE Pro loaded

I came across an VE Pro/Logic issue while trying to expand my Logic template. I discovered that when I try to connect a VEP AU plug-in instrument, and there are more than 24 VEPro server instances available, Logic crashes. I saw that someone else had the same issue on this forum, but no solution has been presented. I could use fewer instances in my template if I were to use the IAC MIDI bus, but it seems like the VSL team is discouraging the use of the IAC MIDI bus. My understanding is that we are supposed to be able to use up to 128 VE Pro instances. Anyone else having the same issue? Can the VSL team make any suggestions?

  • Hello aschnurr,

would you like to add the specs of your computer and the used software, OS and versions?

    Thanks in advance,

    Paul

  • MacPro3,1, 8 x 2.8 GHz CPU, 18 GB Ram, Mac OS 10.6.3, Logic 9.1.1 (problem occurs in both 32bit and 64bit modes), VE Pro v4.0.5814. I am using VSL instruments (v2.1.5740) and other libraries using Kontakt (v4.1.0.3681). However the crash occurs even with instances loaded that are empty (no sounds loaded).

  • Please send the crash reports to support. We will look into it then and get back to you as soon as possible.

  • I can confirm that I consistently experience this issue.

To fully qualify the bug report, it is "more than 24 UNCONNECTED instances available to the VEP AU plugin inside Logic Pro 9.1.1 under OSX10.4.6 = certain crash of Logic".

I think that so long as you keep connecting the instances to remove them from the "available instances" list, you can get above 24 instances. Just not very helpful for those of us who like to run Decoupled.
