    Hello,

    Maybe the question is asked and solved allready but I can't find it in the forums. I still work in Logic 8.0.2 and Mac OS X 10.5.8. I recently installed the VI software 2.1 (build 5132). Logic 8 recognizes the VI and I can load a lot of VI without a problem and save them too. But the new VI software doesn't recognize the settings (presets, patches, keyswitches ...) I made in earlier projects (VI 2.0). When I load an earlier project in Logic, the VI stay empty and I have to reload all the instruments. Because I don't remember exactly which articulations, keyswitches ... I used, I have to do this very time consuming work again.

    Is it a bug in VI 2.1? What can I do best: uninstall VI 2.1 and go back to 2.0.? An upgrade to Snow Leopard and Logic 9.1 (I don't need it at the moment) doesn't seem to be the solution because a friend who 's working with Snow Leopard, Logic 9.1 and VI cannot make the files open properly neither.

    Maybe there is a simple solution?

    Dear PeeCee,

    VI 2.1 - 5132 is not compatible with all previous versions. Please try the following:

    Uninstall the current version of the Vienna Instruments software first and delete the "Vienna Instruments.pkg" files from Mac HD/Library/Receipts/.... Then download and install Vienna Instruments 2.0 - 4017.

    Save all of your older projects with version 4017, then install Vienna Instruments 2.1 - 5132 again. Now it should be working to open the old projects with version 5132.

    Nightmare!! But what I'm currently finding is not quite in accordance with your comment above. I am currently running 2.1 - 5132

    I can successfully open Songs going back until April 2008 (date last opened) - looking at the VI change log these were songs created since I installed VI 2.0.3173. So it certainly looks like 2.1 - 5132 will open songs with the saved presets back to version 2.0. Also if, as you say above, 2.1 5132 is not compatible with all previous versions - it must at least be compatible with the previous version 4017 Yes?

    I cannot open the songs that were last saved before March 2008 without loosing all my pre-sets - huge problem as there are about 200 odd! Will future software updates fix this or at least have a work around? because to follow your uninstall / install procedure every time just to check out an old mix would be as I said above Nightmare! 

    Logic currently opens back 4 years and with a couple of saves using older versions (which can be installed concurrently with Logic Pro) it's possible to go right back to really old Notator songs - up to 20 years!

    So Maya please offer a ray of hope!

    VI 2.1 - 5740 and 2.1 - 5132 are fully compatible with projects created with VI 2.0 - 4017. I´d suggest to save all of your projects with version 4017 first, before switching to the current version. We will also add this information to the download area to avoid further confusion.
