  • VE Pro - Only one set of MIDI ports in DP 7.12

    Hi All,

I'm guessing this is user error!  If I open an instance of VE Pro (most recent beta release) in DP 7.12 under Snow Leopard, the VE Pro interface gives me 8 MIDI ports to choose from.  But when I go to DP to make a MIDI assignment, DP is only showing me the first MIDI port (i.e., only Vienna Ensemble Pro 1-1, 1-2, etc. - a total of 16 channels).

Humbly I ask, what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks,

    Peter

  • If you are using VE Pro as a plugin there is only one MIDI port per instance using AU.

  • Indeed. Only RTAS and VST3 support multiple MIDI input ports. AU and VST2 are restricted to a single MIDI input port per plugin instance.

  • That explains it, then!  Thanks.

  • I just installed VEP across 3 MacPro's and I run Cubase 5 and I'm having the same issue. When I create an instance of VEP on a slave computer, then go into my VST loader in CB and load the VEP instrument, there only seems to be one VEP listed in the Instruments list on a midi track. Where are the 8 ports I've set up in the instance of VEP on my slave computer? Am I not setting something up right in Cubase? Thanks

Thanks! VEP Pro 7 2023 M2 Ultra Mac Pro, 192GB ram, 4TB SSD 2013 MacPro RME UFX +, Earthworks mics, Neuman mics, Earthworks Preamp,
  •  Have you enabled more than one port in the VEP server Preferences?

  • MAS (DP's native plugin architecture) supports multiple midi ports per plugin, but unfortunately I doubt we'll see a MAS version of VEPro. Sure would be nice though (wink, wink)

Yes it would be nice, and would fix a big roadblock for so many of us (WINK! WINK!).
