The VE Pro (public beta .5814) I run on a slave HP Pavilion PC, connected via a gigabit switch to my Network of a MacPro (sequencer) and another PC (Gigastudio), all with static manual ip addresses, is repeatedly losing connectivity to said network. This is a private network, with no router or internet access that might screw things up. Like I said, there are 3 computers connected to each other by a gigabit switch with fixed IPs.
now, everything starts up fine, and works fine when I launch. but if I break for lunch, and the machine sits idle for a little bit, when I return to my studio, I'll notice the VE Pro PC machine telling me, under the Network and Sharing Center, that it is not connected, anymore. I get that red "x".
Is this an issue with VE Pro? I ask b/c when my PC sits idle, but VE Pro is not launched, there is no loss in connectivity whatsoever. that is why I thought to inquire whether there might be an issue with VE Pro somehow causing my connection to my network to drop.
please advise.

yes and no. I had a different set up at the time (with 5436), so it's apples and oranges a little bit. That being said, at the time, I was using DHCP, and it was connected to a router that occasionally seemed to bump it off the network. since I first posted the question to you earlier today, I completely disabled the firewall (btw, I'm on Windows 7) and I changed the setting of spinning down the Hard Disk from after 20 mins of sitting idle, to 320 mins. In other words, I am trying everything. Since those changes, I haven't had a problem, but it's only been a 1/2-day. either way, I thought to inquire with you re: VE Pro. btw, a colleague mentioned that when working with VEPro over a network, I should purchase a higher end Gigabit switch that features Jumbo Frame. also suggested I should switch from Cat 6 cables to Cat 5e. any thoughts on this? thanks again, Dave
