Regarding the pro player you write that it can be used with the current - or probably soon to be outdated - libraries. I am sure that the new player has more features to offer with new sample contend compared to the existing now discounted samples. I think here is also some clarity needed.

Clearing Sale?
Are the price reductions a clearing sale for new instruments in summer? If yes - what I assume - then it would be good to know something about upgrade policy for the upcomming products. I am sure I am not the only one wanting some clarity here.

I don't think that they'll pre announce here any future product plans. Marketing has it's rules.
That said, the new player coming this summer will IMO increase the workflow and musicality of their existing sounds. I don't see the need for new audio on their part, just eventually, with time, better and better ways to exploit that audio (samples), and the new VI Pro seems to be a healthy step in that direction. There are no better wood wind libraries out there IMO.
I would be very happy if VSL would "complete" the French horn instrument with mute samples. I've had to look elsewhere since that's an active part of my Horn pallet.
I could see (just speculation) VSL integrating some new "divisi" samples into the orchestral strings collection. The new "Auto-voice" feature on VI Pro could handle that nicely.
Though VSL is starting to get some competition in the String and Brass sections, nothing VSL has out will become obsolete in the near future. [B]

No secret I love VSL's samples - use them everyday to make my living but could always use a 'warmer' FRENCH horn (solo) and FRENCH oboe. I do have the OB-2 but still would like something a bit warmer, more lyrical. Just my $0.02.

Agreed, this was seen as a clearing sale from the beginning and I can understand that perfectly well. I did have some immediate concerns.
a. Will the end of the product line be announced with an appreciable lead out time? Perhaps at least a three months? That would allow those of us with just the standard libraries time to fill in the gaps in our libraries and also to make any last minute budgetary considerations to purchase what new standard libraries we did not already have.
b. This is another alternative, further out perhaps but, if say one has only a standard library license for a particular group or insturment, could the option to fill in with the extended libraries be exteneded even further say, six to nine months? After all, no new product needs to be shipped, we just need to purchase a license. Again, budget contraints are a real concern here and I am loathe to rush into a purchase just so I won't be left stranded so to speak.[:'(]
c. Apart from considerations on the 'old' libraries, what will the new ones entail in the way of a new take to be considered new in some fundamental way? Sure, new articulations, maybe new instruments ( where are Congos and Bongos for Vienna Sympohony library users?) and changes to things like amount of vibrato. I would think that these could be add ins to already existing collections though or perhaps because of the database considerations just adding a new patch with some vibrato choices is not possible. But after all we have 24 bit recordings with every imaginable articulation and instrument.

Are you able to give us an idea of the projects you´ll be working on as we lead up to Christmas and of course, Winter NAMM 2010?
Our main focus is to complete the Vienna Choir. Hopefully we’ll be ready just before Christmas. We are also working on a new version of our Vienna Instruments, which will offer some really cool new features. Sorry that I can’t talk about these features right now…
