  • [SOLVED] VE Pro - no sound output in standalone mode?

    I have VE Pro Server (build 4881) working absolutely fine on my Windows 7 64-bit machine.  But I wanted to test out some instruments in standalone mode and I don't seem to be able to get any sound!  I know I must be doing something really stupid, but ...

    - I have selected the speaker output in Preferences / Audio

    - Windows Media Payer works fine (i.e. I get sound, so it's not that I forgot to turn up the volume on my speakers!)

    - Speakers are simply plugged into the green jack socket - i.e. no funny stuff with S/PDIF or anything!

    - I checked Preferences / Audio routing (L->OUT1, R->OUT2)

    - Playing notes on the VE on-screen keyboard results in movement in the "eyeball" graphic, and the level meters on the left hand side

    - Volume slider to right of keyboard is set to max

    - Instrument is sent to Master Bus; master bus output is sent to OUT1/OUT2

    - I tried the 64-bit and 32-bit standalone player - same results (silence) on both

    It all works brilliantly when I do it the complicated way and run the VE server, routing the audio to Sibelius (which runs on a different machine).

    What am I doing wrong?

    Mike

    Hi mikeHC,

    you need an ASIO driver (with all "better" soundcards), please try with the free ASIO4all.

    Best,
