Optimizing RAM
I'm using VSL SE with sibelius 5 and everything works fine with a few instruments, but as soon as I load more than 6, I have no more RAM left. Vienna Ensemble says (in the performance page) that I have about 170MB memory used and 10MB memory left, out of the 180MB that seem to be "assigned" to the program. My computer has over 1Go of RAM, so can I "assign" more RAM to my VE program instead of the default 180 that is given to me? If so, how? Thanks! Willk

What?
I think I might be able to help a bit, and others surely could, if you could clarify some things for us.
For example:
Do you mean by 1Go Ram, 1 gigabyte?
and the references to 170MB memory, do you actually mean hard drive space? I'm guessing you do.
Are you using a PC? It sounds like you are.
Off the top here, it sounds like you are using a very minimal system. Please offer some more info, and I'm sure things will get answered for you!

I'm using a mac, and yes I mean 1Go Ram. In the performance page in the Vienna Instruments standalone, there's a section where you can see the number of samples used and the number of memory used and memory free (right beside the learn, optimise and reset buttons). Oddly, when I have to about 5 or 6 instruments loaded, it says that I very little memory free. I'm not sure what all of this means, but it just seems like VSL uses only a fraction of the RAM my computer has... I don't know if any of all this is clear(!)
