    Welcome Thomas [:)],

sorry to hear about these troubles! I´m not a FL Studio user, but there should be a way to check the list of installed VST plug-ins....

Which OS are you working on, and what are the specs of your machine?

I assume that you are working with the latest available VSL Software (best to start with Vienna Instruments / Vienna Ensemble), right?

    Thanks for the additional infos!

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul, thx a lot for your kind reply! I'm using Windows XP Professional SP 3, Intel Core 2 Duo, 3 GH, 2 GH RAM And yes I downloaded from the user-area the latest Win-Software from VSL and installed this. The standalone version is working ok (and btw I tried to open VSL VSTi out of Samplitude SE and there it is shwoing up, but unfortunately I'm not used to use Samplitude SE as FL Studio is my friendly host for 8 years or so - it would be great to use VSL inside FL Studio because of the common workflow. One question which came out as an answer in the image-libe forum: "Is Vienna 64 bit?" I think it's supporting 32 Bit in any case, doesn't it? My Win is 32 Bit. Thx again, cheers Thom

  • Hi Thomas,

yes, our software for PC is 32-bit and 64-bit, and both is automatically installed if you are on a 64 bit OS.

Did you find the VST plug-in list in FL Studio? Is anybody else using FL Studio here, who could jump in here?

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hey Paul, thx! And yes the Vienna VSTi is listed in the VST-Plugins-List. The prob is starting when trying to load it out of the list. I'm very curious btw if someone else here is using FL Studio ( you probably know that this Sequencer is sometimes bashed being a "toy" because of its Look & Feel - coming from the Techno-MusicScene, but it isn't a toy at all) Right now I got the info from Reflex @ Image-Line that he seems to have a NFR-Version of Vienna for testing purposes, but has to get a dongle to test. Cheers, Thom

  • A little Status-Update:

Reflex from Image has still no dongle to test but will hopefully get one soon .

Uff - will try to synchonize the communication a little bit with my postings.
Seems there aren't that much FL-Users working with Vienna (but one response @ the imageline-forum thread said he had had other probs in the past but with the Vienna Ensemble )

    Here's the thread at Image-Line:

    Cheers,
    Thom

PS: Luckily I found the function to format my postings [;)]

  • Try setting the plugin to "fixed size buffers" in FL Studio. This is a requirement for VE Pro at least.

  • Thanks Karel,
I would have tried this - but the prob is that FL is getting a loop/deadlock (or ??) while trying to load the VSTi - so it's not possible to set anything as FL hangs up before.

  • I've tried to load the last version of VI and VE Pro in FL Studio 9.0.3. VI worked without problems, but VE Pro required fixed buffer size. What software versions are you using exactly?

  • I tried to load the VSTi in FL Studio 8.02 and in FL Studio 9.03.

  • Hi again  and sorry - gladly I could solve the prob with te help of a friend.
Obviously it was NOT Vienna or Fl Studio causing the not-loading of the VSTi:

It was my old firewall (which never caused problems in the past and was active for years here), it took time to find this out. [:|]

The firewall is Outpost Free 1.0 - I came after it recently since it was not possible to load one certain website I do have to access for working purposes.
After a not that simple Deinstallation-Process (and installing a newer FW), since then it IS possible to load the VSTi inside FL Studio.

Dear Paul and Karel - thanks a lot for your affords and sorry again - as it was not clear to me a firewall could cause things like that (and the old firewall allowed the VSTi working in Samplitude and Reaper so this is really strange)

    Cheers,
    Thom

  • Hi Tom,

    glad to hear that!

  • vienna instruments rely on a few local calls and some firewalls consider even local calls as worth for blocking (zone alarm, OS X extended firewall settings, some norton versions, ect) - one could also enable TCP port 6179 for the local computer manually.
