  • "Please Disconnect from This Instance..."

Does VSL acknowledge that there is no way to disconnect? This prompt comes up even after I've closed Logic completely. From what more can I disconnect an instance?

Once an instance is launched, it's going to be there until I close the VE Pro server entirely. I've hoped that each new update would put an end to this. Now I'm wondering if it's just a bug on my own setup.

  • My experience was, this was problematic much of the time. But it was not impossible to delete instances; in any case it took some time...

I had some other issues, which became major. I ended up concluding I had some corruption somewhere in the application, such as preferences-related file corruption you can get with a system that just got too hot for too long. I uninstalled with the included uninstaller and reinstalled (the official release, not a beta). Most of the issues, all the major ones, are ok. Still, quitting instances is slow. Quitting the server itself is slow - seem to but is not reported as a hang..

I found that at some point it's good to quit the server and restart, at least using Kontakt with its memory server, and get a fresh RAM situation; if one is using various templates with a lot of samples to load, unloading them can be a problem.

  • This is no different in 4881. The only way I can reconfigure a Server load on the same computer as Logic is to delete the plug-in, quit Logic, go into the server to delete the instance, save the meta, and then reload Logic.

Otherwise VEP continues to tell me to disconnect from the instance (long after "connected localhost" is gone).

As for "force disconnect," I don't see it, and I assume that's not for the local server.

My original request was just for an acknowledgement. Please VSL, communicate with your very loyal user base.

Thanks for your thoughts, Civ. I'm glad you can coax it to work one way or another. I too am dealing with larger issues, so this is more of an annoyance. But it has been persistent throughout versions.

  • I have read that thread all along. My mistake was thinking that the new version Martin announced (with Force Disconnect) was the "new version" (4881). Now I realize he's talking about the NEXT new version.
