    Hi,

    I just heard of Vienna Ensemble Pro. I love the idea that it is able to run third party AU so one can get rid off the RAM limit of 32 bit DAWs and plugins. So I downloaded the Demo and loaded several instances of Omnisphere into the VE Pro 32 bit Server. Of course when VE Pro 32 Bit reaches the RAM limit it crashes. So I thought I can open a 2nd instance of the VE Pro 32 bit Server to work around this problem. But I can only manage to open one instance of the VE Ensemble Pro Server 32 bit at a time. Is this expected? Wouldn´t it be great to be able to open more 32 Bit server, so one can really get beyond the RAM limit of 32 bit plugins?

    My System:

    MacPro 3,1 Quad Core Intel Xeon 2,8 Ghz

    RAM 14 GB

    OS X 10.6.1

    DAW: Logic Pro 9.0.1

    Yes, that's the limit.

    But you can also open a 64 bit server at the same time.

    Also, don't forget that each instance of Omnisphere can be multitimbral and so in theory you could have 

    64 Omnisphere patches going, each with its own midi and audio routing.

    I think this is incorrect.  It's one 32 bit server, and one 64 bit server, per machine.

    Can you tell me how it is possible to run an Omnisphere multi within VSL Ensemble Pro and get independent audio routing out to Logic. I have been unable to do this, it seems the VSL audio routing takes precedence.

    rpacker: assuming you are using the server and not running standalone as described above-

    In Omnisphere, assign the omnisphere patches to whatever omnisphere outputs you want.  Then create "audio inputs" in the VE Pro mixer and select the appropriate omnisphere output as the input in the field immediately under the fader of the audio input channel strip.  Eg if you have two omni patches going out output B and C respectively, create 2 audio inputs and select those omnishpere output channels as the inputs to the audio channels.  Then in the field below that one select (for the purposes of this example) net 3+4 for the omni B output, and net 5+6 for the omni C output.

    Then in logic click the + icon at the bottom of the VE PRO multi in the mixer page to create aux channels.  If, in this example, you have created two aux channels you will automatically see the patches described above coming into those channels.

    I'm in a hurry but I hope that's clear.  It's all explained pretty clearly in the manual.

It seems vsl do not like multi instruments , with other plug ins with each one asign to individual output no problem but with one plug in synth and multi output i get a lot of clicks Any ideas thanks in advance Patrick Mimran

    And what about the midi routing? It looks like VE PRO can theorically control independent instances of kontakt/play/vsl within one VE PRO instance through the server. But VE PRO doesn't have the tools to make it possible... The manual suggest solutions like LoopBe, but I wish I could make this work on my system... What do you guys think?? I run W7 64bits and Cubase 5 64bits All the best, Ben

    Where is the problem? VE Pro can handle Multiple MIDI ports and multi timbral instances within one instance, never mind one server. Let me know where you think the problem is and I might be able to explain the details.

    Thanks for your quick reply ! Well, I'd like to control more than 16 instruments per VE PRO instance. I know it's possible, but back in cubase, I can't figure out where to find the link to midi port 2 that would control let's say a second instance of PLAY. Am i clear enough? :) All the best, Ben

    You need to make sure that you're loading the VST3 version of VE Pro denoted by ///
