VE Pro + Logic: only sound from 1 instance?
Hi! I've got a problem with the audio coming back from VE-Pro into Logic. My VE Pro Server has 8 instances (all of them containing completely loaded kontakt 3.5 instances with LASS, Project SAM Orchestral Brass, HWW, ...) My VE preference is set at 6 cores (leaving 2 for my sequencer), MIDI ports 32, audio 32. (I also tried 4 cores with the same result) Everything routed back into Logic. Now when I record several instrument from one instance of VE Pro (or 1 kontakt instance) it runs the way it should be. But when I try to combine multiple instances of VE Pro, it can only play the sound of 1 instance. The only way I can make them play together is to 'trigger' the track by playing a random note on that track. However, after stopping the playback and resuming my playback, I only hear the sound of the last triggered instance.. There are also click from the instances who have MIDI-information on their tracks. Those clicks disappear after 'triggering' them. It sounds like this: http://www.box.net/shared/6gx9ffjzkv In this little fragment you hear the clicks and only the Violins I, which should have been all the string sections playing in octaves. It also looks like it doesn't occur if I try to combine kontakt on 1 instance and the Vienna player on the other. Anyone who can help? Thanks! ;) PS: Why is all my text in 1 block? I did use the backspace-key! :)

Sounds like you're having a similar problem as me, where I can play & record just fine but at some point Kontakt will stop playing back until I re-record enable the track: http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/t/22965.aspx
Unfortunately I do not have a solution. Are you able to have at least one Kontakt playback everything you've recorded consistently, even when a VE track is not selected/record enabled? To test create a blank software instrument, select it, and keep playing back the song, stopping before every reply. I can do this about 3-4 times before VE pro will stop playing back my kontakt instruments. The only way to get them to play consistently is to keep all VE pro instances "record enabled" in Logic (which is impossible to do 100% of the time, especially when mixing). Perhaps the same thing is happening to you, but since you have your VE pro instance 1 recored enabled the whole time you think the problem is with the 2nd VE instance.
I personally think its a problem with VE, Kontakt & Logic, but have yet to get any others to validate the bug. Perhaps you will be the first! :-)

THANK YOU MS!! That was the problem! It seems K2 didn't like being on Logic "large" buffer range in the audio preferences. Switching this setting to "medium" seems to have fixed the issue! I'm going to try doing a full project here today and will report back, but so far it seems to be working!! THANKS!!
