  • VE Pro - Saving of song-projects (in the sequencer) takes very long

I think this is not a problem of VE Pro but of the VST3 architecture. Maybe someone can confirm (or explain) this behavior?

    1. I start "Vienna Ensemble Pro Server (64-bit)" and create an instance with 20 instruments (about 10 GB RAM)
    2. I open a blank project in Cubase 5.1.
    3. In the VST-Rack I insert "Vienna Ensemble Pro" (VST3) and connect to the server instance.
    4. When I save this project in Cubase it takes about 45 seconds (!).
    5. But when I disconnect the "Vienna Ensemble Pro"-VSTi from the server instance saving only takes about 1 second.

My VEPro Server preferences (Connection settings) :

    • Midi ports: 8 (per instance)
    • Audio ports: 64 (per instance)

If this is normal behavior are there any hints to reduce saving-time?

    Best regards,

    Peter

Thanks to Martin from Vieanna Team. He has answered to this question in another thread.

I was more thinking about an option which decouples saving/loading. This way, a save could be pretty much instant - all that would be saved in the project would be the preserved session name and the IP address of the server, instead of all data belonging to the VE Pro instance (which in the case of 20 Kontakt instances, can be ALOT of data). I'll see if I can add that for an update.
