  • String effect from "Lost"

Hi everyone, Just recently bought some VSL gear, really impressed with it. I was wondering if anyone knows how to create that sound from the TV show "Lost", it's when the strings come to a crescendo and go up in pitch. I'm not a violin player so I have no idea what the player would be doing to create this. Is this articulation on any of the VSL packages? Does anyone know what is the articulation called?

  • Hi Jim,

    you´re looking for "glissandos" [:)]

There are glissandos included in the Solo Strings and the Orchestral Strings.

As far as I remember, the effect in "Lost" is VERY slow.... so I´m afraid it will be hard to "copy" that.

    Best,

    Paul

  • Cheers Paul, I'll look into that. It's just one of those effects that I hear all the time in movies and have always wanted to know what the players are doing. All the best Jim
