     I'm looking at buying either a used xeon or opteron 850 server with 16gb or 32gb of RAM.  Can anyone tell me if these systems support XP64?  Or, if I'm forced to use Windows Server 2003, will VE work in this environment?

    Any help is appreciated,

    the question is more does XP64 support this system - i.e. are there XP64 bit drivers available for the chipset of the used motherboard (and of course for other expansion cards or onboard devices) ... basically so far i didn't notice a board of some major vendor which has been incompatible with XP64.

    instead of server 2003 then i'd rather recommend to use vista64 SP1 then
