  • New Daw,XP 46, Cubase4 and VSL Special edition bundle

    Hello forum users,

I just bought a new Daw with os XP 64 bit with 8 Gigs of DDR3 memory.

I would like some advice on how to run the VSL instruments from the Special edition bundle.

Should I just load a new player with every instrument or use Ensemble host 2 or 3?

It's all rocket science to me so your insights are very welcome!

    Cheers,

    Ruud Jan

  • If you use load the VI player, one instance for each instrument, then Cubase will run out of memory (and crash) when approaching 4GB. If you use VE you can use up to 4GB in Cubase (in practice probably not more than 1GB, unless you are loading other sample players as well as VSL) and then whatever is left you can load into VE2.

I'm currently using Nuendo and loading around 9GB in VE.

    Thanks for your reply.

Do I use VE2 as an VSTI or standalone? if so, how do I connect Cubase with this standalone application?

  • VE2 as a plugin.
